What if the players are chubby chasers? What if the players are closeted? What if they really wanna be pegged, but can't talk a girlfriend into it? And isn't it a wee bit arrogant to assume that all gay men are attracted to sweaty basketball players? They're too young for some, to thin for others, not hirsute enough for yet others. Michael Medved really needs to spend five nights at the Eagle to view the diverse body types gay men can be attracted to.

See, Seattle? I told you already: I'm too pretty.

Is it a requirement that you must be a seedy looking old white dude to compose right-wing crazy prose?

Have you never read anything by Ann Coulter or Michelle Malkin?

I thought Michael Medved was gay.

Ann Coulter is clearly a seedy looking old white dude. The case can be made that MM is as well.

Michael Medved has proven over the years that he is both stupid and a complete dickhead. Still, this piece proves his writing and thinking skills are just getting worse.

Michelle Malkin is a hand puppet with a creepy old white dude's hand inside her up to the elbow. Ann Coulter is a man. And Michael Medved is something that normal people flush away.

However, if he wants to make the suggestion that fat, ugly broads be denied their basic civil rights too, let him. Everyone can agree that the protection of the law should only be extended to stud athletes and the hot chicks they like to screw, right?

A lot of black males love fat-ass white-trash chicks. It seems to be a match that works. If you've seen Idiocracy, let's hope they keep the baby count down.

I'm starting to agree with what a Miami columnist said today: the more the unapologetic haters speak their true minds, share their real hate and real opinions with the American public, the more they help our side: just as Bull Connor put a face on racism in the South and made it harder for people to clothe their hate in religion or federalism.
Hardaway and Medved (and some of the Focus on the Anus types) do us a service when they speak this way, all awash in their hatred and fear. They're still assholes, but assholes in service to a better cause then they know.

I always assumed that Medved and Rabbi Lapin were closet lovers. I mean Lapin uprooted his family to move up here with Mickey when he got the radio gig. I'm fairly certian that married straight men don't uproot their families just so they can live close to their married straight non-sexual friend.

I wonder how NBA players would feel about sharing their showers with tiny, middle aged, gerbil faced, Jewish, conservative, douche bag pundits?

Note that, through his comparison, Medved is explicitly defining homosexual sex in terms of heterosexual sex and thereby normalizing it.

His point is that, while sex between men is "normal," and maybe even fun, it's also unpleasant and repulsive and, given the weight involved, bad for one's back.

With that mix of emotions and potential for injury, it's no wonder that Timmy hates the gay.

It's so pathetic how can you not crack up at what Medved writes? I nearly laughed out loud (LOL'D BWAAAA HAHAHAH! ROFLWALKLSAKJDASLA!) while I read his pedantic diatribe.

It's the only sane thing to do.

If Michael Medved had to spend one hour in a woman's shoes--getting hit on, receiving unwanted attention, being touched without wanting to be touched, etc., all of which are par for the course for women--he'd no doubt wither away and die from the horrible, horrible unwanted attention. I'm "downright repulsed" by the idea of sex with plenty of guys, but I deal, because I'm used to guys talking to me without my inviting them to do so.

Also, it's scientifically proven that "attraction can only operate in one direction" with a fat chick. Because NO ONE has EVER gotten turned on by ANY woman who fails to meet the Medved-approved skinny-chick ideal.

@ECB: well, in his defense, he did say "profoundly unattractive" fat chick. And I'd agree that most people are not attracted to unattractive people.

Yes, Mr. Medved, these talented multimillionaire athletes are SO vulnerable they must be protected from obese females as well as closeted teammates, rather than being held to a standard of decency, respect, maturity, and team spirit?

Hardaway DID NOT simply say "I hate the gay sex act" which he does have every right to feel. He said he HATES FAGS, which while he has the right to express, also has to face the responsibility of reducing a minority group of people to a single sexual expression and use an epithet to describe them. It's completely fair to point out the irony of a minority "hating" another one, Michael, and to call you on your own homophobia and sexism.

@HIM: There are plenty of married people in the south. So your argument holds no weight....ha. get it? No weight?? I am as witty as Michael "face chewed on by dog" Medved.

Tim Hardaway (and most of his former NBA teammates) wouldn’t welcome openly gay players into the locker room any more than they’d welcome profoundly unattractive, stupid, weasely right wing pundits....The ill-favored, grossly idiotic pundit* is the right counterpart to a gay male because, like the homosexual, he causes discomfort due to the fact that attraction can only operate in one direction. He might well feel drawn to the straight guys with whom he’s grouped, while they feel downright repulsed at the very idea of sex with him.

*But aren't they all?

Well, now, wait a second. Is she covered in sores? Does she scream and twitch and fling poo? Does she smell like Michael Medved's shoes? Does she vote Republican? Well, then, I have to say, I don't want to shower with this hypothetical woman either. So, he has a point, right? What?

Posted by Fnarf | February 21, 2007 1:24 PM

most would probably welcome her joining their showers

Medved speaks as someone of the mind that finding a sex partner in a public shower is as simple as asking. Maybe he has success scamming for sex in a public shower, while naked or in various stages of undress. I hear tale of such things, so hey, each their own.

But, I doubt many professionals athletes (and not, say, at the local Health Club Gym) make dates, homo or hetro, while in the locker room. Just can't see it, what with their focus being on the sport and all.

While the "one way attraction" theory may have some merit in describing some straight guys' discomfort around gays it's beside the point in a pro sports context because *you're not supposed to be fuckin' in the locker room!* There's no reason to assume a guy won't be able to keep his eyes or hands off his teammates. If he can't then it's a problem but don't freak out prematurely. What about the WNBA or other women's sports? Are any female players out and still actively playing?

I found Frank Deford's take on this issue on NPR this morning enlightening.

everybody is so stupid. We gays are not all victims ok. My life is fucking sweet! I have no babies or women to suck up my money so I can take trips to london every 6 months. I get to sit around sipping martinis, watching movies while straight guys are sitting in a fucking desert dying in Iraq. I get my own frigging bathroom at work because other guys don't wanna use the one that I use. Shit, I get to live like a teenager for the rest of my life. no responsibilities, no wars, no stress. Sooooo, don't feel sorry for me. Feel sorry for the straight working suckers. Fuck you all!

I've had sabbath dinner at Michael Medveds house, by invitation, and I am a fat white woman. Medved believes that only rail-thin blonde women, like his wife, are sexually attractive because that is what he finds sexually attractive. I am happily married, and I have been overweight most of my life. I never lacked dates, and I can honestly say that more than one man found me attractive during my dating years. I don't have any gay male friends, though I have been involved in the theater, but I have no problem with homosexuality. Its a stereotype that gay men like to hang out with fat women. Its not true, at least in my case. Medved isn't gay, he's just afraid of gay men and women who aren't doormats like his wife, who bows and scrapes to his every need and desire. And he's not an attractive man himself, and is, in fact, ugly, but that probably makes him all the more fearful of gays and larger women who are more attractive than he is. I also know Daniel Lapin, and trust me, he's not gay either. He's actually a fairly nice man in person, and he's been chubby, if not overweight, for many years. But I guess its okay for men to be fat, but not women, in Medveds world. Sad. Just consider the source here, folks.

As a fat fag, I guess I'd be willing to sacrifice myself by stripping naked in a shower with Medved. The resultant coronary Medved would have will kill him off and rid society of another scumbag that makes his living instilling fear into people.
