I saw a similar thing the other day: Some punk on the train to Portland flipped off the very nice bartender and called her a "n****r". She told him, in no uncertain terms and at some length, where to go, and some do-gooder (who didn't see the original scene) went off on her about "disrespecting" him.

I am tired of waiting for a bus in the rain because some asshole thought it would be fun to break all the glass in the shelter. These are the same assholes who go around scratching their illegible initials into store front windows and tag peoples houses (a friend of mine in Crown Hill has had to paint over graffiti on his house three times since November. I suggested we lay in wait for them and as soon as they have can in hand we paintball the shit out of them).

Speaking of annoying passengers on the bus. Last night, a jam-packed #8 was subjected to a spastic Rastafarian who would not shut up all the way between Mercer and Stewart. The icing on the cake was that he got on the wrong fucking bus. He repeatedly yelled "Ganja" at random intervals. I think he's smoked a little too much.

I ride the bus because I have to, and frankly as bad as the service is, I wouldn't try to justify commuting by car to a job that's only two miles away.

As a rider I am really tired of bored teenagers, junkies, and vagrants trashing the buses that so many of us depend on. I suspect that if you don't think it's much of a hassle, you either drive a car or are one of the people trashing the bus.

I spent 10 days in juvi (a few years ago...) and never once got ass-raped, or even ass-felt or ass-caressed. The guards did spend a lot of time trying to scare us about how we would be ass-raped if we ever ended-up (no pun intended) in King County Jail as adults. Do you think news reporters give a fuck when young hoods are killing each other? The new trend is among middle class suburbanites and other people (who supposedly matter more than black kids) killing their neighbors over petty disputes and disrespect.

I also wasn't responding specifically to the I, Anonymous post. A number of commenters have expressed a desire to see punks get beat down to "teach them respect." A middle class guy who gets gunned down for flipping off his neighbor certainly would have learned some respect, if he weren't dead.

Actually, given that prison rape may be more common than outside-prison rape, I'd say we don't pay enough attention to it. It's a serious brutal crime that is treated largely as a joke, and our treatment (or non-treatment) of it says a lot about just how fucked up we are as a society.
