Sad. Someone should show up with a Monorail costume just to mock them.
it seems morally ambiguous to use children to promote propoganda for a political stance....not this is a new practice or anything. funny thing is all the parents will drive their CARS down to the waterfront with their kids! :)
May their crusading prove less disasterous than those of 1212.
What if I like the viaduct and hate kids? Can I push them over the edge, onto the highway?
I hate the Viaduct and the Kids and I work downtown.... Just need to pick up a Flex Car and chase down the little kiddies!!! HA HA HA HA HA !!!!
@2 - how true. Someone should do an extra Critical Ride ... hmmm, I've got a Facebook link ... wonder if I can post an event ...
@4 - nah, liking kids is mandatory - we don't have that many in Seattle.
...help fingerpaint... a vision of what a downtown waterfront park could be!! Kids of ALL ages
WOW!!! What a great opportunity for the kids... a chance to join our elected officials who have been fingerpainting a waterfront design for years now.

"wasting a kid's weekend to support our political delusions"
How about a parade of people who believe that the surface option would create a happy and invaluable destination paradise for walkers and bikers? Just imagine the show of force if all of them--maybe 100 or more--showed up and spent the whole day walking and biking back and forth on Alaskan Way.
Get away kids, you bother them.
Just wait, only 25 or 30 will
unwantingly show up, and be
made miserable and unaware they
are nothing more than their
parents tool. Not kids. Not
people, just a tool.
I drove my kid from West Seattle to Capitol Hill today via the Viaduct, Broad Street, and Denny Way, and thereby avoided bumper-to-bumper, snail's-pace traffic on I-5.
It's the best route, Ivan.
I'm participating in this event, along with my balkan brass band Orkestar Zirkonium and my Circus Contraption troupe mates. Very few of us have kids and we are generally known for performing at adult only shows. how bout getting your hipster asses off capitol hill and actually interacting with another demographic? we need to do what we can to avoid having this issue framed as belonging only to hyper-progressive, childless bike nazis, as some in these threads are trying to do. there are all kinds of people across the city who oppose the viaduct, who can be engaged and activated to help in this cause, but not if we alienate them for having cheesy press releases, or don't support thier efforts because they don't read the stranger or speak with sarcasm dripping off of every phrase. come on people, quit being assholes and fight the enemy, not the people who are on our own team.

I'm for/against anything Circus Contraption is for/against.
Ivan @ 11, why not use 1st Ave S to Madison instead?
God damn hippies!
Better then fucking puppets though.
What's wrong with kids? The whole point is for EVERYONE to come out, kids included, and remind people how great the waterfront could be without 75,000 tons of concrete dividing us from Elliot Bay.
Come ON people - at some point we've got to get off our behinds and take it to the streets. This is about everybody getting out there. I hope you'll join us!
well, sari, we probably both had fun at the Mardi Gras event in Fremont on Saturday, but you'll forgive me if I didn't vote your way (already). Doesn't mean I don't respect your opinion on the issue.
Oh, and I liked the giant inflatable batik puppets ... it was fun watching them from the coat rack area, between runs to the bar and getting people to wear masks. I'm sure you'll have fun!
