Oh, how I would like for it to come to this. I want to see the fucker go for it, and be challenged. I want to see this President go down on national TV.

I like the sound of the Generals telling The President to fuck off but… I imagine the scenario would go something more like: Generals quietly resign, maybe go on talk shows, maybe write Op-Ed pieces for the NYT. The Administration says they were good men, but they had to go as they didn’t comprehend how important war with Iran is to protecting our freedoms ™. Younger, less experienced, torture lovers get promoted to the General positions. War in Iran makes Iraq look like Sunday School.

But I'm a pessimist.

Sadly Bush is the Commander in Chief, and what he says goes in the military. If someone won't push the button, he'll be excused so the next guy can.

A kind of chain-of-command Tiananmen Square.

I'm with the Pope @4, the machine's far too big for a handful of generals to stop it rolling. Bush--sorry--Cheney probably wants to leave a right mess for the Democrat that follows him.

@4, sadly, is right. Cheney and Bush are far right.
