(I even had a song I sang: "Zeeetgeast Maga-zeeeen!") But I don't use it in print, ever. Ever. Until this week. I had to use the Z-word in print. In my Oly•Intel column about my fear that the Democrats would wimp out on Rep. Maralyn Chase's (D-32) CO2 emissions cap bill, I wrote: I'm worried about the Democratic leadership who stressed at a caucus meeting immediately after the elections last year that Democrats need to tread lightly if they want to...

Josh,

You may have noticed that the government at the state and federal level stopped working in the best interests of the public quite some time ago. People instinctively know that something is seriously wrong, and this is reflected in the consistent polls that show 70% believe the country is on the wrong track.

Oh sure, they let us have petty, vicious fights over gay marriage and abortion, but ultimately most Democrats and Republicans are what the disgusting Lou Dobbs accurately calls “corporate supremacists.” Everything is done for the benefit of business and the people who control them.

This is largely due to our hopelessly corrupt campaign financing system, which forces our legislatures and courts to become revolving door whorehouses. Not to mention the fact that our society has a major problem with hypocrisy, lying and denial. It’s only going to get worse until we have fully publicly financed elections, as in other countries, and the most qualified have the opportunity to govern and not the best fundraisers.

I know that.

It's just, that's what I like to do when I sing songs. For example, My song about David Schmader (which is pronounced Shhh-may-Dur in reality) goes: Shhh-mah-day musically!
