Sorry, but the woman interviewing him is a total douche bag: "What is it about the NBA lifestyle that wouldn't embrace your choice in life?" Choice? Wake the fuck up, people. We fags were born this way. Jesus.

Amaechi's also one of the smarter, more sophisticated players the NBA has ever seen, musically talented and a veritable encyclopedia of classic literature. But he just never quite fit in with the thug-life ballaz that make up the bulk of most NBA teams.

He approached the game as a profession, a job, and that rubbed coaches the wrong way, who felt you have to have passion for basketball to be any good. He rode the end of the bench despite possessing the talent to be at least a solid backup, if not a decent fill-in starter.

You know, I've never seen anyone ask the Talibangelical Christians the obvious questions:

1) If therapy can make a person straight, then it must also be true that therapy can make a person gay, correct?*

AND

2) If sexuality is a choice, then could you please provide the day and year that you chose to be heterosexual?

*So called "conversion therapy" has been totally discredited by the American Psychological Association, a fact which seems to be missing from the news.

When I was a young thing and lived on Capitol Hill, I knew a rent boy who had a "boyfriend" in the Sonics. The guy would pick him up late nights, they'd do their thing, and he'd drop him off in the morning.

I also knew a guy who was banging the QB of the Seahawks back in the days when they really sucked.

John. I cannot believe the incredible courage it took for you to come out! Be sure that it is the first step toward the NBA becoming more open to gays. My straight friend Ed kissed an out gay teammate at center ice after a hockey game in front of everyone in the stands a couple of years ago. I was really shocked and pleased. This is the way it should be.
