In case it was missed earlier, here again is the beautiful and fantastical Viaduct gracing the face of other cities of the world.

Why wouldn't Seattle want an even bigger and more beautiful Viaduct?

So that first picture shows that we could plant evergreens along the water side of the viaduct both creating a wall of green visually and dramatically reducing the sound. It would require more lighting on the lower deck. :D

of course it is free speech - but the lie is six lanes, streetcar and rr tracks.

of course the kids can just run to the water - oh for a fair rendition using the actual space

someone said like arora ave only no business on one side.

yes condos will have a better view, great area for dogs to shit, really important that we be concerned with the views of the rich and their shitting dogs as part of basic road planning

i am not convinced the end of the world lies in the rebuild

it seems the no no no no no no no crowd is very vocal again, sigh

All I saw today were No on 1/Yes on 2 signs.

But we still need DOUBLE the local transit AND some medium-high grade transit (Skytrain or monorail along the old Green Line route) in ADDITION to the ST2 expansions.

We are BEHIND in the Global Warming War, children. FAR Behind. We either start DOING or we get consigned to second-world also-rans - as happened to Britain before us.

Will, the global warming war was lost in about 1960. What we here do about will have zero effect one way or the other.

I'm with Fnarf - the world is going to end, nothing we do matters, we're all going to die, and no one will miss us.

That said, please don't let them rebuild that aweful piece of shit.

FNARF:

what happened man? desert concrete wasteland of feral children feasting on the stinking remains of flu victims dragged out of stalled box cars under the topless pillars of a long gone viaduct while the stench of urine and cholera victims wafts out over the water

Fnarf - you reveal what a true asshat you really are. all you care about is that might be inconvenienced. everything else you say about the viaduct is just hot air. the whole of your support for the rebuild is that you don't want to have to change your lazy fat-ass lifestyle one iota. and you couldn't care less if it is bad for the city, the environment, the planet.

Uh, yeah. You'll be able to hear birds chirping over the sounds of the major fucking arterial that they want to put there in place of the Viaduct.
