Did CPR fail due to her implants? I could see an EMT breaking his wrists.

The Anna Nicole Smith story always made me sort of sad. A woman with many problems, I didn't follow her life closely, but I always sort of hoped she would turn herself around. Even while I knew that would never happen.

Nipper just played the bugle call from "Taps" over the office intercom. And then there was a moment of silence for Anna Nicole. Sweet sorrow.

Lets see a zillion hours of your time streesin and dealing with the courtrooms and lawsuits- Trim spa lawsuit for one, The custody battle for two, the inheritance battle in the courts, Losing your kid right under your nose, having another at the same time, Poppin a dozen stress pills in various concoctions, and the constant media attention and paparazzi asking how your day went while you have breakfeast at a casino.......
I'd probably would of collapsed to of a broken heart. Thats what did it. She was through after the loss of her boy and all that haggling she got about something off topic from him. She need therapy. She needed help. But alas if your an ex stripper, you like to party, you have money, everybody blames you for living in 'sin'(jealous zealots)no one cares except the devil. I heard she collapsed. Then an hour later she's dead. Thats sad. She was a strong personality. RIP Anna. Now you can be with your boy.

It's pretty sad. And I know it's heartless to say, but, her daughter is probably better off without being raised by Anna Nicole. That lady was just too effed up to be a good mother. Did any of you ever watch her hideous show? What a train wreck!

A bizarre end to a bizarre story, one of the great WTFs of our time in fact. Move over Mike Tyson, the Trinity of weirdness is Michael Jackson, OJ, and Anna Nicole. She made Paris Hilton look like a boring bank clerk. I did watch almost every episode of her show, and I have to say that it was pretty obvious she was doped to the gills most of the time. And she routinely gained and lost about 100 pounds, even more often than Oprah. But I think Howard the Lawyer needs looking at; I think he was feeding her (and her son) dope all along.

Shocking, just shocking. An icon of our time. I think she represents something very central and important in America.

The sad truth is that was the best way for the saga to end. Her life seemed to be nothing but one silicone-fueled tragedy after another, and now she has passed into the next world without ever getting old, fat and wrinkled. I think she would have wanted it this way.

I predict a series of TV-dramas followed by a balooning cottage industry that sells Anna Nicole memorabilia to dedicated fans. The trash culture queen is dead. Long live the trash culture cult hero.

FNARF--

Anna Nicole appears to have died in a similar way to Marilyn Monroe.

Marilyn Monroe was the icon of her age. Whether talented or not, she was featured in more than once era-defining image and movie. She dated the male icons of her era—JFK, DiMaggio, Sinatra.

By contrast, Anna Nicole was…? a stripper with implants who married a rich guy, became a celebrity, and was best known for very publicly falling apart.

Is this what you mean when you say she was an icon for our time?

I'm just having trouble understanding y'all are able to dredge up the sheer energy it must take to care about this non-event. Have we finally reached the Roman end-times with only bread to eat, circuses to amuse and toothpicks to prop our eyelids open to mask the utter boredom filling our jejune, empty lives? "People" magazine racks everywhere, beware: "Your 'waiting for Godot' burden comes all too soon."

Posted by VENUS DEMEANING LESS NESS | February 8, 2007 6:17 PM

BB: yeah, pretty close.

Marilyn's iconic status was more about how 1950s America could create a fuck-doll persona like that, and pretend that she was so, so much more. See Norman Mailer for evidence. Of course she wasn't; she was a pretty girl who turned a nice set of tits into something bigger than she could handle. I think it's interesting that she was married to the most boring guys in the world, but all of her public sexual zest revolves around powerful, exciting, crazy and dangerous men; JFK was blind with pain and zonked to the gills on pills the whole time he was carrying on with her, and ol' Frank, well. But as a particular kind of 1950s woman, she wasn't a person; she was a device that ideas -- forbidden ideas, sexual ideas -- could be projected onto. As a person, she had no value, and when people were done fucking her, they just left her. A truly tragic story. I like to talk shit about Marilyn, because I really hate that kind of thing (cheeseball 50s iconography; I hate Elvis more), but the human tragedy of her story is very real.

Anna's story is much more prosaic. She never had anything to do with powerful, exciting, or dangerous men. There's J. Howard Marshall, who was really rich, but a nonentity; he was on death's door the day they met. Howard K. Stern is a joke; hanger-on, fixer and enabler, barely a human at all. All of the powerful men in her life were judges. The only thing in her life that was genuinely interesting to a sentient person, besides the tits again, was the endless lawsuits. A lot of big fees were had off of her, that's for sure.

But again, as a person, not so much. For all of you who think I'm mean (or mental) for hating on her, I think you're the ones who are damaged beyond repair -- because you are concerned for the sadness of unjustifiably famous people, for no other reason than that they are famous. If you really gave a shit for unhappy women mired in personal disasters, you'd be looking out for the many, many such examples in your own neighborhoods. Been to a domestic violence shelter recently? So spare me the fake anguish and the bogus outrage.

Nobody really gives a shit about women in distress, or men, or anything else, do they? They care about E! True Hollywood Stories, and there's never been a more reliable E! True Hollywood Story than Anna Nicole.

Is that sexist? Of course it is. I personally know of many, many successful women who are neither drug addicts nor serial court appearers. They will never appear on Reality TV, but they are pretty hot stuff. But no one cares. We, all of us, are the ones who eat this shit up with a spoon. Watching women fall apart on television is fantastic entertainment, and it's not grumpy old dudes like me who make it so. My demographic holds no sway whatsoever over popular entertainment.

But yes, Anna Nicole is a trashier, cheaper, less accomplished, dimmer, more ridiculous, and ultimately more embarrassing example of the species than Marilyn was, and that is very much a reflection of our times. Marilyn was a dim bulb in the glare of the real actresses of her day, but she was a thousand times brighter than even the best today are ever allowed to be. I'm certainly not saying the 50s were better than now -- quite the opposite -- but celebrity glamour sure was. That's because we 21st-century sophisticates know better; we know that real glamour is a waste of time, when you can get just as high off the fake stuff.

Now it's all kind of a joke. Anna Nicole was a joke. Her show was a complete travesty; it was designed to be a travesty. Every scene was a setup to make her look stupid, to do something stupid and unforgiveable. Anna Nicole goes camping; Anna Nicole goes to the airport, Anna Nicole can't find her pants. Not exactly Shakespeare, was it? But that's what the entertainment industry is these days. You've seen the movies they make now. They're just vehicles to position their stars so that we can all get good shots at them. That's where the real action is. Look at the tabloids; unlike in the past, the tabloids are totally devoted to trashing and destroying their subjects. In the 50s, they worked with the studios to hide Rock Hudson's homosexual tastes; now, they'd be on him like a laser spotter. You'd see pictures of his cock. Remember, we saw Jude Law's, and he's friggin' JUDE LAW, about 1/1000th the star Rock Hudson was. We've seen Britney's cooter; did we ever see Audrey Hepburn's? Uh, no.

And the reason they do this, devote page after page to destroying celebrities, and to creating new celebrities out of nothing at all in order to destroy them afterwards, is because that is what we demand. That's what we pay for. Decent human beings can't even get a look in; nobody wants to know. Seriously skilled? Charming, witty? Who cares? Hit somebody, then we'll print it and then we'll buy it.

Seriously, look at any copy of Star or National Enquirer, or the celebrity pages of more serious papers. It's not about STARS; it's about HATING STARS. Nobody likes Paris Hilton's actual work; they like hating her for her bad behavior. Anna Nicole's JOB was bad or embarrassing or tragic behavior.

Yes, I think Anna Nicole is representative of something very important and cheap about us. Not her personal tragedy; come on, no one here knew her. But her fame, fame based on ridiculousness. Fame based on the eruption of unpleasant emotions within us. Fame derived in part from our own shame and revulsion at what we are immersed in.

There are unpleasant aspects of our response to femininity here too. I'm not qualified to say much about them, but it is true that most of the talentless slags who end up in the celebrity press are women, attractive, sexualized women. The men more often have to come with some kind of credential. There are boy examples; have any of you seen the short-lived reality show about Ashley Parker Angel, the former O-Town boybander? He's just as pretty and just as useless as any of the girls. But they're more often girls. It's probably a perversion of puritanicalism, or something; lord knows sexual repression is oozing out of every other pore of American society these days (priests and pastors, for instance).

And yes, for those of you who are wondering, I'm just bitter about the war. It all boils down to the war. Did Anna Nicole cause the war, or did the war cause Anna Nicole, I don't know, but something sick in the soul of America demands them both.

Fnarf @ 42: "something sick in the soul of America demands them both."

Boy, you nailed that right.

And for whoever it was that brought up the decline of Rome...yeah that too. And let's hope it goes fast. This country is diseased to its very core. You keep hoping that something large enough will happen to wake people the fuck up...but no, we manage to draw the wrong lessons from just about everything and respond stupidly.

We get a relatively minor kick to the nads with 9/11 and instead of coming up with an intelligent strategic response, we react like a drunken linebacker and charge every which way randomly destroying stuff.

Let's break facts down:

- Anna Nicole just had a mysterious death
- Her son, mysterious death
- Her former step son (E. Pierce Marshall, son of Texas oil Tycoon, J Howard Marshall) died unexpectedly in June 06.
- Howard K Stern and she had a quick "marriage" like ceremony a few days after her son passed, which probably makes him her husband. Done in the Bahamas, this just adds to all the other legal issues going on in her now past life.

Start building the picture (just my take and thoughts only), Anna Nicole Smith is probably do to gain a big chunk of change from her former billionaire husband (J Howard Marshall) estate, especially now that his son, E. Pierce Marshall is deceased. Now being that she is no longer with us,

- She will obviously not get the estate
- Her son will not get the estate
- Her daughter is still too young to claim it.
- Howard K Stern depending on the laws of a “marriage” like ceremony, is next in line; Hmmmmm??

He was with Anna Nicole Smith’s son at the time of his death and was with Anna Nicole Smith at the time of her death. Howard K Stern refuses to take a paternity test to prove that Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter (Dannielynn Hope Marshall) is also his daughter. So I’m thinking, if he claims to be the father of Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter and is also her husband, he would gain a lot from all of these unfortunate, coincidence’s.

Now these are just my views on the whole take of things and mostly meant for fun and thought injection. I would like to throw in that it is always unfortunate when anyone passes, especially when there are young ones involved and family members who are hurt by such a tragic passing. It is unfortunate that she had herself surrounded by the “wrong” people and did not have a strong support structure behind her to remove her from all of the negativity. I am in NO way poking fun at Anna Nicole Smith and her tragic passing and only hope that, whether the case concludes with natural or criminal causes, peace and closure can come to all involved.

I think the Marshall inheritance case is still going on, pursued by the heirs of Sonny Boy. The paternity suit isn't going away anytime soon. She also had at least a couple of other lawsuits going on over various financial matters. One of the lessons of the Anna Nicole story is that if you are super rich or even have the potential to be super rich, your life will be spent in courtrooms.

Here are my thoughts and questions:

A few days after Dannielyn is born, Anna Nicole Smith’s 20 year old son, Danny dies from a prescription drug overdose in the same hospital room as Anna Nicole Smith whilst visiting her and the baby, Dannielyn. They were supposedly her prescription drugs. Did he commit suicide?

Was Danny the father of Dannielyn and not cope with the guilt of being the father? Did Anna Nicole Smith or someone close to her help Danny out from being part of a possible worldwide scandal?

To halt Anna Nicole Smith’s possible world-wide scandal, did her lawyer take on the responsibility of the paternity of Dannielyn?

How retro for Anna Nicole Smith to be found dead in a hotel room (Marilyn Munroe). Did someone from J Howard Marshall’s family help end the court case regarding the part-ownership of the Marshall billions?

Howard K Stern, where are you? Where is Dannielyn? Now that Anna Nicole Smith is dead, you have departed to an unknown destination. What will become of Dannielyn? Let’s see, without a baby to perform a DNA test, how can the Courts determine who the real father is? Why is it that you were “around” during both deaths?

Will Danny’s body be exhumed for DNA testing against Dannielyn and Anna Nicole Smith’s DNA?

What of Larry Birkhead – is he just a father trying to right a wrong, or is he one of the many vultures circling overhead, waiting to get his hands on Anna Nicole Smith’s millions?

Oh wait, that’s right after an appeals court ruled there was no money going in Anna Nicole Smith’s direction, the Supreme Court has determined there is another chance for Anna Nicole Smith to state her case for her $US474 or is it $US88? Where is Anna Nicole Smith now?

Where will the money trail, incest, the lies and the murders end?

#61&62... OBVIOUSLY you care, or else you wouldn't have bothered to research her, and furthermore to read this blog, and lastly, to have posted an entry, if you did not- in fact- care a great deal!!! May I suggest that you focus more on self-improvent than the hatred of people that you don't even know and you have ever met. You obviously aren't a Christian (Love thy neighbor as thyself!), but aren't you at least a human being? You actually think that she "deserved" to suffer up until her death? Wasn't it enough to suffer the loss of her child?!? You could not possibly be a parent and feel that someone would deserve to feel that pain and suffering! I'm not even a parent (but I work with kids) and I don't even want to think about what that would be like... I can only imagine! I am questioning whether or not you even have a soul... you probably even think that her child "deserves" to be motherless! Vicky Lynn was a beautiful, magnificent creature, a Child of God... and, might I add, even at her most incoherent, her grammar was far better than yours! May she rest in peace.

I LOVE YOU ANNA!!! :*(
