I thought it was cute! Especially how he was slow to catch on to the password/pet thing. This was a fun interview last night...

Windows 95 = Macintosh 1986

Windows Vista = Macintosh 2000

One day Windows will catch up.... One day

Andrew, which operating system do you like the best? Because I would suggest that you use that one. Hope that helps.

I saw him on the Today show and he was so boring. He is NOT a good spokesman for their product. He is worse that "PC" in those fabulous Mac commercials!!

He mostly came off as a sweet and gentle little nerd, slouching and all. A little bit of wolf-in-sheep's-clothing, but still he seemed earnest and patient in the face of some really boring questions from Jon.

If anyone was off, it was Stewart. He was totally unprepared for the interview.

In truth, I'd much rather spend an afternoon with Bill than Steve Jobs. Job's aways comes off as an arrogant prat.

I thought he was charming. He comes across as a real person, albeit a nerdy one. I like Bill.

Just because he left abruptly at the end doesn't mean he wasn't intensely interested.

But Bill's a funny guy when you let him be one.

Bill Gates is not the richest man in the world. Ingvar Kamprad the founder of Ikea is and it is all thanks to the massive national debt.

Gotta disagree with you Dan. I saw the interview and thought it was pretty funny. The man clearly is/was happiest cranking out code, and he doesn't have the stage presence that his buddy Steve Ballmer has, but he came across pretty relaxed last nite.

I'm with Golob @ 5. I thought Stewart asked a bunch of dumb and uninteresting questions. What do you want from Gates? He's not funny, he's rich.

I'm curious what Gates' "rider" was -- if TDS had to agree to put up all that Vista/MS eyecandy all over the set for Gates to show up in the first place.

I actually opened the comments window to see how long it took for a crazy Mac person to make a comment. Second post, good job!

(BTW - I like Mac's just fine, some people are just a little kookie about that shit.)

spa spy informs that he has very low hangers and what appears to be an attempt at a sexual landing strip

I'm having trouble choosing which cult to join. Should I go with Scientology or Apple?

lol @ 13

I use Macs, but have never understood the rabid anti-PC contigent. Nor do I really understand the snarky 'Macs aren't real computers' viewpoint some PC users have. I mean, it's a computer. There are good things and bad things about both-- you pick the one you like and shut up about it.

I don't know him, but his mother was a saint. A SAINT, I tell you.

And herself was hardly cold in the ground before his father married that Mimi.

@15 - Yeah, Mary was a nice lady, but have you ever seen the huge portrait of her that hangs over the atrium in Gates Hall at UW? The eyes follow you around the room...

Actually, I've heard that Bill Gates has a form of autism that is characterized by an inability to read social cues, as well as an outstanding intelligence in other areas. It's called Ashberger's (spelling?) My little cousin was recently diagnosed with it and he frequently takes his pants off at inappropriate times, so I think the interview went pretty well, considering, and maybe it's not so nice to make fun of Bill.
