The summer of 1987 'The Joshua Tree' was one of my favorite records of the year. I woke up from a nap to it not so long ago on my brother's car stereo waiting to cross into the U.S. at Tijuana and found it unendurably corny and false. Everything good about that record is special effects by Brian Eno. U2 sucks.
