You gotta give props for the righteous turn of a phrase in "homosexual PC puffery," though. Sounds dirty! (And possibly computer-related. I hear with Homosexual Mac Puffery there's far less chance of contracting a virus.)

I'm 100% all for it... if the child/doctors/parents are sure that it's not some kind of phase or result of abuse, etc. Getting these kids on the proper hormones early will make sure they live a normal life (the junk chopping can wait).

Has there ever been a boy who identified as a girl through age 18 and then suddenly changed his mind as an adult? Ex-TG's, where are you?

I actually do think it's best to make people wait until they're 18 to have their sex change operations. The NYTimes article said that 80% grow up to be non-transgendered, so it's better safe than sorry. I certainly believe that a young child can know that he or she was born with the body parts that don't correspond with his or her identity, but a five year old also shouldn't be making a permanent choice, just in case it is a phase.

A couple of things - trans women don't "chop off" their male genitals - they reuse it to form female genitalia. Talking about chopping off penises is inaccurate and, frankly, the sort of insensitivity that is all too common from gay men. Please stop it.

The other thing is that although trans organizations may, for political reasons, not outwardly support genital surgery for a transperson before he or she reaches 18, many (if not most) of us accept that a transperson can know what he or she needs long before age 18. In time, I believe that society will accept surgeries earlier than 18.

As in their last media campaign that blamed the Barbie website for promoting the "gay agenda" and gender confusion when they offered kids check boxes marked "male", "female", or "I don't know", the Concerned Women for America once again insists on having a man speak for them...

How is this not confusing to the children?
