Even if the sperm donor did get partial custody, why would they want that? Then you have 18 yrs of dealing with someone you've never had a relationship with and is now seriously pissed off at you. You would think that if you were the donee that you would get paperwork done waiving parental rights and such and that would be part of the deal.

Viaduct Vote: I’d favor the tunnel if the extra cost was paid for by taxes on businesses.

If there’s a vote, the source of the extra tax hit the tunnel would entail should be described to the voters. Just saying “the tunnel would cost $2 billion more” doesn’t give a voter a basis to decide whether a tunnel would be worth it to them.

Part of the reason I would support a tunnel is either we would potentially get a great waterfront park, or at least it frees up space for more businesses to tax.

I hope the mother sues the sperm donor for vast quantities of child support. Perhaps that will inspire him to reconsider?

This is pretty fucking hilarious on its own:

"Bush pushes balanced budget on Democrats"

...except for that it's playing straight into the neocons' highly effective and destructive PR bullshit. That part's less funny.

Umm. "We don't like Muslims"? Aren't we supposed to be proud of the fact that we let millions of people into our country to share the American dream, but we will in fact kick you the hell out if we find out you lied about, oh, say, connections to terrorist organizations? That intro seems like CAIR-complaining, not an ironic or liberal label.

How to translate $2 billion more.

Since it's Seattle-only taxes, that means $4000 per person in Seattle. So if you have a family of four, well, forget going to four years of community college or two years of state university.

Will, what kind of taxes do you think the Seattle-only taxes would be?

On employers (per employee), on property owners, on vehicle registrants, city-only sales taxes, increased B & O taxes, what? If they were taxes that hit busineses, voters might be much more inclined to vote for the tunnel.

And spread over 30 years with interest payments, could be more or less than that Will.
