Yep, he's an asshole. And he likes being an asshole.

If some freak of nature were to happen and he became the President, I'd kill myself. And that is no joke, I would take a gun and blow my brains out.

He handled himself pretty well with Ali G. Although, Gingrich is probably so much of an asshole that even Ali G can't faze him.

I realize he has a loyal, if small, following, but I have a hard time believing he could actually win the Republican primary, much less a general election.

By a wide margin, the most offensive Republican you've mentioned so far. Just the thought of "President Gingrich" makes my teeth hurt.

Newt Gingrich has as much chance of being elected President as King George does of being elected for a third term.

Gringrich's credibility with the Republican base is that he's (perception-wise) untainted by the scandal-laden, free-spending, foreign war starting Republican party of the past 6 years.

He's the Moses of the GOP, returning in glory after being chased out of town to rescue them from the slavery of the neo-conservatives who have taken over and perverted conservatism so that he can lead them to the Promised Land of an overturned Roe vs Wade and a federal government drowned in the bathtub.

Once again, Kucinich is more electable than this guy. Who's next Eli? David Duke?
