Didn't scoop us, wf. We were all over the lost ferret story weeks ago. Good to have competition, though. That PI is keeping us on our toes.

Also, those Buster people are dedicated -- I've seen posters from downtown to Montlake.

The cats get out and dig holes in our yard and shit in them. Then they kill a few songbirds, just for fun. Then they mysteriously go missing....

What about cats who leave their cig buts on the sidewalks? It's a subtle yet growing problem!

As the city grows the publications here act more and more like Seattle is a shitty little town. Missing cats and cigarette butts? WTF?

What fool editor is giving these crap assignments to Kery Murakami? He used to do real news. I mean, human interest stuff is fine as a category (I read it all the time), but it can be done in a more interesting/daring way.

Not to defend the article's worthiness, but I'm always amazed at how much effort The Stranger puts into criticizing the Times and the P-I and the Weekly. I suppose that's the whole point of being "alternative" (bashing the other big bad papers), but it gets old. In fact, it got old several years ago. Maybe you should take your own advice and find something useful and constructive to write about...?

Well, Dave, of the 27 posts up today -- which include breaking news about state government, naked pics of Harry Potter, the two best things on YouTube this month, appalling news reports of rape and racism, straw polls and links to North America's first adult baby daycare center -- two are about the other papers in town.

Please go check out other papers in other cities. They tend to write about each other, slam each other, critique each other. It's an important function -- no, it's a duty. Writers and editors at papers run around screaming at other people and institutions about their shortcomings and screwups. If papers don't do the same to each other, who will?

I'm not sure it's as much of a two-way street as you make it out to be, but maybe I've just missed all of the Stranger-bashing articles in the P-I lately.
