I lost all respect for Sam after he joined the Bully Patrol picking fights with Marcel. Yeah, the coiffed closet case isn't exactly Numero Uno on the ol' personality scale ... but the kid is socially awkward, not Satan Incarnate. It's one thing to find someone irritating. It's another to start screaming at someone in public for no good reason ... and that na-a-a-ASTY watermelon 'n' bleu cheese dish clicked him firmly over to "NO."

Out of the remaining cheftestants, the one I detest the least is Elia.

Dude! Seriously! I totally have a crush on him! I have two TV crushes, one is Sam from Top Chef and one is Jim from the Office, and the SICK thing is that they look exactly alike! Have you noticed that? Whats wrong with me?

And why did they kick of Michael? That made me feel sad inside, he is so funny!

you are not alone. i enjoyed the moment at camp glucose when the 14-year-old girl said "i'll take that diabetic hot chef." you know sam wears an insulin pump under his pants. hott.

Um, YES. I love Sam and I miss Michael and I totally wanted to hang out with those 14-year-old girls and chat about boys and stuff and eat sugar-free snacks. Sam can serve me watermelon cheese globs all day forever.

OMG, Amy (yeah, I just said "OMG"), I never noticed that Sam and Jim do look exactly alike! I heart Jim too. Good thing there are two of them, we can share instead of fight.

Michael wasn't Top Chef, but I too was sad to see him go. He's way better than Marcel and his stupid foam this and foam that.

Ok, I'll get in on this. Sam is totally dreamy for sures. I'll even confess to being a little crushy on Michael (love those big, beer drinkin, bbq eating dudes). I was sad to see him go, but really it was his time. When he pulled it off, it's clear he could cook but he's too laid back and doesn't seem to have the leadership qualities a "Top Chief" needs. (did I really just say that? Do I really care that much?)
Top Chief is fun but I'm hungry for some Project Runway.
Top Design, will it suck or will it rule? I'm skeptical (looks a little too bitchy for my tastes) but I thought I would hate Top Chief too. We shall see.

No way! Ilan is totally the hot one, with his cute little gigglen and hipster glasses and general adorableness. PLUS! His bacon-corn side dish and risotto paella and wonderful Spanish-themed quickfires, etc. (I'll forgive him his gluttonous chocolate cake). Ilan's gonna take it. Sam impressed me at the beginning, but he's fallen off as the show has gone on. Plus, he looks like he smells bad.

Ilan’s inability to let Marcel be, to rise above Marcel’s obvious insecurity in group situations, makes me despise him. When he called out Marcel’s cherry dessert as not being lusty compared to his (awful) dessert, I almost gagged. Ilan’s obsession over Marcel has been and will continue to be his downfall. Remember the failed foam Ilan made to poke fun at Marcel? Caused him to be in the bottom three. At least hot Sam has regained some of his dignity by stepping back from the pact mentality going on. Or he hides it better then Ilan does.

actually, i am ultimately with eensy on ilan's hotness over sam's. i was most turned on when he started talking shit directly to marcel about not getting laid. but, sigh, ilan's just a little too gay-ish for me.

let it be said, though, that NO ONE is hotter than season 1's top chef harold.

Sam is a hottie. I think Tom Colicchio is HOT too.

Tonight should be interesting! I can totally see Sam or Ilan going off and trying to punch Marcel, that would be cool!

While I can appreciate the dreaminess of Sam and Ilan, I have to say that their hatred of Marcel is a little on the overkill side. Yeah, he's a little awkward and doesn't really stick up for himself, but from what I've seen, he also doesn't try to start shit with the other contestants.

My theory on tonight's show is that Ilan is going to freak out on Marcel, and cut his cute anime-style hair off in the night, causing him to be sent home. (Ilan, not Marcel, obviously). That's just my idea.

I'm still watching Top Chef, but I find the contestants this time around unlikeable and annoying.

The new host (Padma) is not much of an improvement over Katie Lee Joel, and that particular bar was set incredibly low. Listening to Padma speak is like the aural equivalent of watching paint dry. And that outfit she wore at the beach-- eek!

Stephanie @ 8 - Agree totally about Ilan. It was especially telling that he pulled the foam stunt AFTER being called on the carpet for trying to ding Marcel's dish to the guests in the previous competition.

Okay, this is JUST RUMOR people, but if you think rumor = spoiler then please don't read! (And yes, you are capable of not reading the next paragraph if you don't want to.)

My wife did some snooping around online for dirt... The hot rumor is that some chefs decide to shave off Marcel's hair as a joke... and get this, they get morning-after remorse and shave their own heads! But it's too late to save them.

Am I the only Cliff-lover at the Slog? He's the most skilled of the lot, I've had him picked from the get-go. As for Sam, psh. Give me a big boy that actually has biceps. I'd take Cliff or Michael over any of the other sissies.

I've been in love with Ilan since the holiday episode. No Christmas dinner for me either. And I want to hit Marcel with half of everything he says. I can't imagine what it must be like having to live with him.

I may be mistaken but... isn't this the first mention of Top Chef on this blog ever?!

Sam is clearly the no brainer in terms of who could make a $100k into a successful resturaunt but Ilan is twice as narrow minded and 3x as brillianht as Sam, Marcel is the only person who understands what he's there to do (personality flaws aside...totally unlikeable but seemingly upends everyone with his skills) and Cliff, though somewhat humorless is not one to be taken lightly and Elia? She doesn't seem like she'd win a reality show but does she have the goods? It's been proven. This is the 2nd season and it's incrdible. The judges are baffled by the mediocrity of these phenoms content to be also rans. Holy shit! There've been so many reprimands and excepted rules it's perfect for TV! I haven't been so riveted since The Professor made the radio out of coconuts! I had last season's winner pegged by episode 8, this season...I want to say Sam, but it's so up in the air!

Marcel is hot. He also raps. Sign me up. Sam is a d-bag, please stop ruining Office Jim's good name by associating the two. Ilan is a creepy mother fucker. Cliff is an asshole. Elia is nice in the Pacific North West kind of way.

They should bring on Ted Allen to be the show's Tim Gunn. That other dude sucks.

Whoa! Oh my good god. I'm not even going to comment on what went on this episode except to say did you SEE the preview for next week? Sam got a haircut! Can you say superdupertimes300millionmorehot than he already was? Owwwwww!

i love elia and ilan and their new digs. i kept wondering why ilan was wearing that green bandana on his head, i just assumed that's how he rolled. and who definitely did not see the kick-off coming? as in, who was the one that got kicked off? wow. i'm trying not to give it away too much for everyone who hasn't seen it...

I love Ilan and Sam. Sam is a good looking guy but Ilan is an unbelievably attractive man.

I hate Marcel and his geeky ways. Why the hell was he raping on that one show? I was embarrassed for him, watching him rap like that on TV. He is such a huge loser, Especially with his wolverine haircut.

I'm for one Glad to see Michael off the show. He was a crappy cook and I'm amazed he even made it onto the show. what happen? Did they not have enough people apply to be on the show and they had to scrap the bottom of the barrel and he's what they pulled up?
