I live in L.A. and am thinking of moving to Seattle. I've been shocked to check out how poor Seattle's public traffic alternatives are. In L.A., I live across the street from a light rail line that takes me downtown to work. Seattle can do better for public transportation, and not by building freeways.

All I can say is the Seattle-only taxes that will skyrocket if we're insane enough to back the underwater tunnel, will be far far more than any possible projections of the Seattle tax burden for a monorail that would have actually increased transit and capacity on the route.

But, if you want to spend eventual billions subsidizing state highways just to reward already ultra-rich property developers ...

Yes Josh, articles in Seattle's *other* rags and a few committee hearings are all you need to see to know wtf is going on in Olympia. NOTHING goes on behind closed down there. Really, go take WA Legislature 101 at SPSCC. It's a night class for .5 credits...

You pitch your plan to the folks who possibly are going to fund your idea and you don't even show up?

The "teammates" (@6) have got it so wrong by this point, what the use of asking? If the Mayor cared the least bit about the Hybrid Tunnel plan, he would himself have been in Oly explaining its merits. Nickels didn't, and that is good reason to question it all the more.

Too bad they screwed this up so much. If they had gone with the cable stayed bridge, they'd be building it now.It would have given everyone just about all they wanted. Silly, shallow people in this city.
