Not to be pedantic but this is *not* an official announcement:

Obama filed papers creating a presidential exploratory committee, a move he announced on his Web site, http://www.barackobama.com. He said he would announce more about his plans in his home state of Illinois on Feb. 10.

Gabriel, he is better than Hillary at least. But it does not matter for Washington State, the nominee will be chosen by the time we have our primary IN SEPTEMBER!!! Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

Andrew,

Washington State will hold caucuses some time in early Feb - we will be the 4th or 5th tier of states going - so our vote (at the party caucus) could still matter.

We will later have a "presidential primary", but its votes won't count towards how Washington's delegates to the 2008 DNC convention are selected (and how they vote is how the Dem nominee will be picked).

I think Obama would make a fine president, but sadly he will NOT make it. A black president in America?? Puh-lease! He has a better chance of ...umm...succeeding at other things. I think we would be better served if he commits himself to helping Hillary or Wesley Clark win in 2008.
