After living with these people on a campus for awhile you begin to see this "fake" appearance of warmth to be what they are actually like. Unlike the typical born agains that Seattle Urbanites are used to (always damning people to hell while asking for cash) This guy is not asking for cash and he really seems to believe what he is saying. Remember in the Fundamentalist tradition there are those offering the Kool-Aid (Pat Robinson, Jerry Falwell ect) and those that drink the Kool-Aid. It went about the same as Laurence's did (Aaron said he thought the responses seemed automated, but I think he signed off too quickly for it to be a bot) and I'm still just as baffled. Some of the fundies I live around in Colorado Springs definitely have that perma-shit-eating-grin when they call you "bro", so it's hard to dismiss it!
