Every Child Needs a Mother and a Father

posted by on January 25 at 16:38 PM

A heterosexual couple in Seabek, Washington, charged with murdering their adopted son.

Beyond Abuse; It Was Torture

As 8-year-old Christopher Forder lay on his bedroom floor, stricken with pneumonia, heavily bruised and nearing death, his father called a family meeting.

Inside the family’s Seabeck-area home, the father, Robert, told his seven children they had a choice: They could bury their brother in the backyard, or call 911 and risk having the state snatch all of the children away because of Christopher’s obvious bruising.

They didn’t call 911—not in time, anyway. Mom and Dad—Christian missionaries—let the poor kid die on his bedroom floor. Maybe I should have filed this under “O, They Will Know We Are Christians By… The Kids We Beat to Death.”

Do you think part of the problem is that these Christian families just have too many damned kids to care about them on an individual basis?

No, you see it was God's masterplan - the kid was going to grow up to be gay.

If only there was a hell; those fundie rubes would be burning.

The fact that they are heterosexual has nothing to do with it. It's about evil people who propogate.

Same sex couples make great parents, except for the evil ones.

But just think of how much worse it would have been if the parents had been gay!

"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ."

Wise words from Ghandi.

I don't even know what to say about the murder. It's so inhuman that I can hardly get my head around it. I do think, though, that it's not really a gay parents vs. straight parents issue. It's more of a sick fucking hypocrite issue.

No no no, gay parent would have somehow figured out how to do something worse then MURDERING a child. I can't even even up the sarcasm, and that says something about how much this disgusts me...

For the record, I went to my family in Seabeck for Thanksgiving, not to the family discussed in the post.

Yes, that's true, Chip. But Christian parents -- opposite sex -- are presumed to be the ideal. Gay parents don't run around casting aspersions on heterosexual parents. Same-sex parents are presumed, even by people who support gay adoption (!), to be less ideal than heterosexual parents--any heterosexual parents.

That's why Pam and I feel it's legit to rub folks' noses in these stories.

But, yeah, evil gay parents are evil. I'm sure if gay parents had done something like this that the right would never stop screaming about it.

Dan, are you making a specific claim? Because I would say that I think gay adoptive parents are just as great as straight adoptive parents - unless, of course, they beat their children and then leave them to die.

Yes it does.

The right wing, for years (centuries?), has been saying that gays should not be allowed to adopt. Why? Because heterosexuals are the only acceptable parents, simply because they're hetero. And gays are unqualified to be parents, simply because they're gay. That heteros are defined solely by their orientation to be more qualified to parent. It is the right wing, not Dan, who came up with the phrase "Every child needs a mother and a father" to combat gay adoption.

These occasional horrific articles point out that maybe their are other aspects of parenting that are more important than their orientation. Like whether or not they are insane fucking child murderers.

Reading this made me want to curl-up into a ball and die this morning. The fact that the stupid-fucks actually CONSULTED THEIR OTHER CHILDREN?!?! whether or not they should save their brother? This is the only type of crime where I think cruel & unusual punishment would be warranted.

Also from the same story:

"The Forders have adopted eight children, including Christopher, and have three now-grown biological children. The break in the case came after police began an investigation against one of their biological children. Their son, Michael V. Forder, 23, is also in Kitsap County jail, charged with second-degree rape of an adult family member."

Nice family.

Parents who have more than a few kids (four tops) weird me out. But then, I don't like kids and can only stand a few at a time, so I can't imagine anyone sane tolerating eight children in their home.
