Darfur Wall Lights Up

posted by on January 22 at 12:15 PM

My friend/enemy Jonah Burke got some local press this weekend for his web project raising money for Darfur. The website lists numbers 1 to 400,000, all in gray, representing those killed in the fighting. Whenever someone donates a dollar or more, one of the numbers lights up. So far, he’s raised about $30,000.

What's he going to do with the money? All the natives of Darfur are going to be dead soon, and won't need money. The government in Sudan is bombing them now.

It's too bad we don't have any credibility or military capacity to spare anymore, or we could bomb the fuck out of Khartoum, the government of which richly deserves the treatment. They're worse than Saddam, and by body count at least quite a bit worse than Osame bin Laden's gang (which they have close ties to).

Hi Fnarf, we donate one hundred percent of the proceeds to four organizations working for peace in Darfur: Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children, Save Darfur, and the Sudan Aid Fund. You can read more here.

There's also news about the project, including announcements of disbursements and letters from our beneficiaries, on our blog at blog.darfurwall.org.

@Fnarf

They don't just have close ties, Osama was in Sudan founding that Islamo-shit long before he was ever in Afganistan. Who would have known it would turn into Darfur? Ahmed Rashid commented on the dire consequences long before 9/11.

"Slaughter" is a more appropriate word than "fighting."
