Yeah, what happened to those other morons -- StrangerDanger, Will in Seattle, Pike Place Politics, etc. etc.

You rang?

If Gomez has gone missing, it's nothing to do with me. I've never even met him. No, seriously. That? That's just a garden spade. I've been, uh, working the beds. Hah hah, why yes, that does kind of look like the toe of a shoe, doesn't it?

My apologies, guys. I just haven't been able to get back. I've had various distractions, none of them traumatic, so don't worry.

I think, not actively but subconsciously, I had to take a break from Seattle politics and a lot of the discussions here. Aside from a couple comments to colleagues here and there, I've stayed out.

I definitely still care. I'll be back. Hell, I may be back tomorrow.

I can't even explain my absence. It just... was. My mind said, "Okay, never mind for now." I took a vacation to see my family over the holidays, and it appears my mind stayed on vacation even after I got back.

Thanks for caring, though. I do appreciate it, Dan, even if it is a little surprising.

Gomez,
I think it sounds more theatrical to say you were boycotting SLOG.

(imagine the Bor-stache): The Mariners made a couple more upgrades while you were gone .............................NAAAAAAT!

I saw these abortion-level trades and signings the Mariners made. I think these are the primary reasons my December illness lasted into January. Good thing Bavasi went and spent a bunch to get a bunch of scrap heapers whose performances could easily be matched by... well, a bunch of scrap heapers, without spending all that money.

Can't wait for all those aborted 1st innings:
I.Suzuki singled to CF
J.Vidro grounded into double play, I.Suzuki out at 2nd
...
Vidro: 0-4, 2 K, 2 GIDP
M.Batista: 4.1 IP, 12 H, 7 ER, 3 HR, 5 BB, 1 K.
H.Ramirez: 3.2 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 2 HR, 4 BB, 0 K.
C.Reitsma: 0.1 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 0 K, BS.

And now they're apparently chasing Brian Lawrence, whose pitching arm is being held together with a couple of layers of duct tape. You'd basically get the same return by going out, finding and resigning the tattered remains of Bobby Madritsch, without spending $2-3 million.
