Experts assessing the dangers posed to civilization have added climate change to the prospect of nuclear annihilation as the greatest threats to humankind. As a result, the U.S.-based Bulletin of Atomic Scientists has moved the minute hand on its Doomsday Clock two minutes closer to midnight (Armageddon). The effects may be less dramatic in the short term than the destruction that could be wrought by nuclear explosions, but over the next three to four decades, climate change could cause irremediable harm to the habitats upon which human societies depend for survival. The clock now reads 11:55....

hey, half my electric bill is to pay for the Green Up and Green Power programs - and most days I walk to work. Don't blame me for your Seattle obsession with SUVs you use to drive to the grocery store - and never share with friends who are carless.

And what, exactly, do atomic scientists know about climate change? This sounds to me like a pathetic attempt to make their "clock" relevant in a world with a single nuclear superpower.

Don't worry, fellas. We'll be on the brink of nuclear annihilation again soon enough. Keep to things you understand.

People tell me I'm doing "enough" by not driving. It still isnt enough. I really wish seattlites would stop fucking driving everywhere. Selfish assholes. If half of every major city stopped driving we'd not only be putting bush and his oil biz to the skids but we'd begin a very big cleanup mess of global warming. God I hate people.
