In case you missed it, free will is an illusion.

In short, the conscious brain was only playing catch-up to what the unconscious brain was already doing. The decision to act was an illusion, the monkey making up a story about what the tiger had already done.

no he called us "nothing more than sophisticated meat machines", probably operating at random or according to purely egoistic drives hardwired into those machines. no discussion of compassion or self-sacrifice, as those would obviously be impossible and anyway just forms of grandstanding.

what a relief! i was hoping we could maybe do something about global warming. my bad!
