Yeah, fuck that dude.
From a purely mercenary perspective, the addition of Mr. Longenbaugh's theater news column at the Seattle Weekly means there are now twoperiodicals regularly covering the theatre, in addition to reviews and regurgitated press releases in the dailies. That's a welcomed plus. We need more discussion, not less. Once upon a time this town had local television stations that actually covered the arts, particularly theatre. KING most notably - KOMO to a lesser extent. (KIRO was always a stick in the mud.)
What happened with Carlotta? Do tell.
Annie, you are the most self-important, snarky and vindictive person i have ever had the misfortune to read. why would anyone ever want to read about why you are so much better than some other reporter? Are you 12?
i like the clip art. its real pretty.
did someone kick sand in your face repeatedly in the playground as a child? I know as well as anyone about Mr. Longenbaugh's indiscretions and snarkiness, and yet he wrote what you yourself admitted was a fairly balanced article. Why are wasting Slog space with this ridiculous nitpicking?
I bet AW got a most excellent grade on her high school, science class dissection project.
this is just petty, even for the stranger.
If by petty you mean smarter.
I am an idiot.
Wow, sometimes I wish that you printed some of the shit that you bitch about in your "slog," that way the readers would see what kind of tantrums your writers throw. What ever happened to journalistic integrity? When you walk through those loft doors does it just blow off of you or something? I mean honestly did any of you go graduate in journalism, or was it merely English 101?
sure, his column may be inaccurate, poorly written, whatever.
but why make such a big deal about it?
high road. high road. high road.
Yes - but remember - to Annie's credit - unlike the late Pauline Kael of The New Yorker, she has correctly used "buttfucking" in a sentence of serious movie critique. Just wish the folks at "The Putnam County 25th Annual Spelling Bee" could work that into their script instead of such banal words as bromidosis and synecdoche.
Did Pauline use it incorrectly?
Ooops - neglected to add the reference. I recall the movie was "Tea and Sympathy". The Deborah Kerr character says to the John Kerr character: "Darling, buttfucking is so declasse". What she meant to say was "boot-tucking is so declasse" in reference to his military uniform fetish. Pauline got it right on one count and wrong on the other. Clear?
Yes, we make sure to hide the things we don't want anyone to see here on Slog. Which no one reads. No one.
