That's hilarious, Eli. What's not hilarious is that a 20% cut in personal gasoline consumption could happen in 20 minutes of self-reflection, and Bush expects us to do it over 10 years.

Oh Eli, don't you see? Bush is going to reduce it by 20% in 10 years by putting all of us ON Mars! And will someone answer me why Presidents always make these "bold" ideas in a time frame where they will never be done while they are in office?

The president intends to call on Americans to reduce gasoline consumption by 20 percent over the next 10 years ... by revoking the driver's licenses and driving privileges of all homosexuals.

More empty rhetoric. Up the gas tax and give automakers a 2-3 year deadline to make the majority of their product lines hybrid.

This is really going to blow up in his face. If there's anything AhmuriKKKans hate, it's being told what to do.

This Preznit is going down Hindenburg-style.

I think you should all stop making fun of the President, and get back to shopping. What are you waiting for? SHOP! SHOP! The future of FREEDOM depends on YOU!
(as long as you're not gay, per previous, precious slog posting about that not-gay-anymore singer dude. At least he's shopping.)

Don't the gays make up about 10 percent of the population? Unless homos drive more than hets, revoking their driver's licenses won't cut it. Now, if he revoked the license of every woman who's had an abortion...

Wait until 2008, when Bush announces his plan to send an astronaut to Earth.

You know, if we just mandated all cars get 40 mpg, all SUVs get 30 mpg, and all trucks get 20 mpg, we'd have it done in one year.

But that would actually work.

Instead the Liar-in-Chief is mouthing words while filling his comrades pockets with cash stolen from American taxpayers for his War in Egomania.

The cars exist now. Every country in the world is flooded with them. They work great. All that needs to happen is to make them legal for sale in this country, and then hit all other vehicles with a monster tax: say, $10,000 for every 1 MPG under 40 for cars, under 30 for trucks and SUVs. Oh, how they'd howl, though.

The cut would be achieved primarily through a sharp escalation in the amount of ethanol and other alternative fuels that the federal government mandates must be blended into the fuel supply.

They aren't going to cut fuel use, just use of petroleum gasoline. Great, so now we'll be giving even more fucking subsidizes to the corn lobby.

Ethanol stores less energy per gallon than gasoline, and it still requires a shit ton of energy to produce and fertilizer to grow the crops.
