Site of Capitol Hill massacre is once again a happy homeIt hasn’t even been three months since they moved into the notorious rental house on East Capitol Hill, and the four young people are already used to the gawkers and occasional comments about the home being haunted.
They said they knew what they were getting into when they saw the Craigslist ad featuring the East Republican Street home that was the scene of the Capitol Hill shootings. They said they weren’t fazed; they loved the neighborhood.
“The only thing I was worried about were people’s looks,” said one 21-year-old woman who did not want her name published.
Yeah the Seattle Times is just full of the "Feel Good News". The desperation to find something to fill the news day must be pretty high when they have to stoop to that level of news coverage.I really do not want to read a re-hashed account of past events. If I want that I will listen to the President try to get political mileage out of 9-11.
Really? I might be missing a sensitivity chip or something, but I was very touched by what happened there (as I think most seattlefolk were) and I'm curious about what happens to the place, who lives there, and what they think about it.
I also think it's nice that instead of being grisly, they acknowledged that it is "once again" a happy home. By all accounts that I read, the former residents were happy bohemians who the neighbors enjoyed.
Seriously, I'm not TOO stupid, and I can't see a problem with this headline. Somebody explain?
It lacks a pun. A travesty in newspaper circles.
Slow day, new kids on the desk at both dailies, same conversations: "Gee, we could do a holiday update on the Blue House Massacre. You! Run up to Capitol Hill and do a story, you know, 'normalcy returns' sort of thing. You! See if the bar at 13 Coins is open."
SCOOPED
When I was in high school, the elderly lady next door swalllowed a handful of pills and then slit her throat. It was pretty gruesome: Blood everywhere, from the kitchen to the bedroom.
Her grown daughter (who was living with her, but not home at the time of the suicide) threw a party for her boyfriend the next week. Later that month, he moved in.
Some people just aren't bothered by things like that. Or, they really hated their mother.
You seem pretty bitter Ronald. I thought it was the most interesting story in today's paper.
Besides the headline, if the house's location is so well known, is it such a great idea to say, "hey, five young women are currently living here"??
