onStellina (LUNCH) The other day I ventured over to Stellina and had a curry vegetable potpie—less a potpie and more a bowl of vegetables in curry with a pastry hat. Delicious. The guys sitting next to me were real-estate businessmen who took off their hardhats as they sat down. That noise? The construction next door. The view? Another construction site across the street. The catch? Stellina’s only open for breakfast and lunch—for now. (Stellina, 1429 12th Ave, 322-2688, 8 am—5 pm, closed Sundays.) CHRISTOPHER FRIZZELLE

Yeah thanks, I read that the first time you printed it, and I'm still confused. I had thought about visiting Stellina, but now it appears that they only serve soupy vegetables and noise -- for breakfast, no less.
Sorry to hijack but we went to opening night at La Spiga (situated in the same building as Stellina) last night and it was pretty damn good. Totally full for a monday night. A little slow, but for an opening night, but that is expected. Their new space is huge and warm with super high ceilings, big wooden panels and a raised private party area. I can't wait to sit out on the back terrace during the summer.
Stellina (cozy, warm, ideal for breakfast & lunch), completely surrounded by La Spiga (vast, cool, ideal for cocktails & dinner): the perfect Capitol Hill combination, no?
I found Stellina to be chilly but delicious.
