You can watch the Seahawks game on channel 13 locally... assuming you have electricity.

I don't know anything about Vidro's political/religious leanings, but I do have to wonder why the Mariners are ushering in the second coming of Carl "I don't Believe in no Dinosaurs" Everett.

The front office seems to pick its starters the same way I pick the last few rounds of my fantasy baseball team: "hey, I've heard that guy's name... he was good a while ago, right? Okay, sign him up."

Interesting that the M's are swapping their mediocre players for a crappy player from the Nationals. The Nationals were recently ranked the WORST team in the major leagues, and Seattle was second to worst. Perhaps with this trade, the M's can now proudly proclaim they are #1 -- er, the #1 worst team in baseball.

Well, yes, since our GM just got fleeced by the GM of the only organization ranked lower than his, I think you can say with authority that the M's are the worst organization in baseball.
The worst part of the trade isn't losing Snelling or Fruto (though both have significant upsides); it's Vidro and the $12 million we are going to pay him over the next two years. Better players are available for free. Wherever he ends up playing (2B, DH, 1B), we have significantly better options already on board; at two of them (DH and 1B) he is likely to be the worst hitter in the major leagues, and at the other, his completely evaporated defensive skills are going to have M's pitchers pining for the last days of Bret Boone.

In short, this trade relegates us to the toilet for another three years at least. We are the laughing-stock of baseball now. Way to pick 'em, Bavasi.

wow, it has got to suck being an Ms fan. The Rams are laughable, but at least we have the Wold Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals. (Sorry, it never gets old rubbing it in)

Re: thursday night football. Nice weather for it. again. If you aren't carefull, seattle will soon have the worst weather rep in the whole usa...

OK I’m dating myself a bit here, but the only reason I can see for all atrocious these trades is:

Because Heathcliff Slocumb isn’t available.

Mike... The Cards won exactly 5 more regular season games than the Mariners this past year. Worst Champions Ever!

Good, at least there are more chuckles in here than I thought there would be reading the M's part of the post.

I'm not my mom's smartest child, but unless I'm too stupid to see the genius of all these signings, it'll be misery this year. With these moves, I ask myself: What Would Ichiro Do? Brad, can you ask him?

But, there IS a silver lining in all this. I'm suddenly EXTRA EXCITED FOR AT LEAST ONE HOME SERIES: The Devil Rays! That's right. My secret super underdog team. This year the M's are going to get spanked by the "lowly" Rays. A team that's stuck together over the last few years and is battle-hardened from getting kicked around in the AL East. You gotta think that last year's M's players must feel dubious about the upcoming season because of this (potentially, Zito?) crap-job at mish-mash, off-season signings.

Silver lining 2: Lots of free street-parking this season at Safeco at 6:50pm.

Anyone heading down to the Seahawks tonight? (Gomez, I hope you already left work to go home). I'm in! Should be a good rematch. I'm kinda happy for the 49ers improved season, but I'm ready to clinch already. Goddamned Gore could rip our armless mannequins for another 200. Alexander's gonna have to have a big game tonight. Wind storm! Wind storm!

DOUG: Cards won 5 more regular season games, but then won 11 more playoff games. I'll take that.
