This Weekend In Local Hiphop

posted by on December 1 at 16:53 PM

This Sunday, December 3, the Massline posse (Geologic, Gabriel Teodros, Khingz, and Macklemore) is back on Street Sounds—90.3 FM or streaming live on the web at www.kexp.org. Starting at 6 pm, the show will run for three hours and transmit the best independent local and national hiphop. The last time Massline took over Street Sounds, two or so months ago, it was like something wonderful.

(For those who desire to go to the upcoming Dan the Automator/Common Market show on Dec 6 for free, the opportunity of satisfying that desire will appear during the hours of the show—free tickets are being given away.)

The Dan the Automator show is a must see - they're doing music from the Gorillaz, Handsome Boy Modeling School, etc. It's what Dan describes as the first ever live mix tape.

The show is:

DAN THE AUTOMATOR (Gorillaz, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Dr. Octagon)
with live band featuring
CHALI 2NA of JURASSIC 5
Casual of Hieroglyphics
A.G. of D.I.T.C.
with special guest COMMON MARKET

And if you're at all into hip hop check out the KEXP show Sunday for sure. Aside from a bunch of great music the guys are working on getting a ton of guest interviews hopefully include One Be Lo, Dan the Automator, and Chali 2na. If you're not in Seattle it's streaming live on www.kexp.org

Dave, I know those aren't your words but the first ever live mixtape?

Wasn't the idea of the first mixtape to present first ever recorded live mix. So this would be the first ever live performance of the first ever recorded live mix?

That publicists stupid blurb won't deter me from attending.

yeah, any 'first ever' claim is big, but those are actually's Dan's words. The mixtape he did was not live. So yeah, well, it should be a pretty great show, first ever or not.
