Two Hundred Fifty in one day from one restaurant are alledged to have contracted food poisoning?

Very interesting stuff.

It may possibly have been caused by food or beverage common to all who became ill. Note the article did not mention any staff becoming ill....which may or may not be a cause for alarm....but still a possible curve ball.

I have never been to (nor seen) an Olive Garden restaurant.

Any WAG's out there by up and coming
pathogen detectives?

Wait, isn't that the normal reaction to the Olive Garden?

Ice. I'll bet it's the ice. Stay the fuck away from the ice.

I'm not sure if you're kidding fnarf, but anyone who has ever worked on an ice machine will tell you there is a whole lot of nasty in those things. The bacteria and 'stuff' that grows in there is very visible and scary. Next time you're in your favorite watering hole ask them when they last cleaned their ice machine other than the bin. I'll bet they say 'what?'

Scary thing is that my partner and I were shopping at the mall next to that very Olive Garden last week, and we were debating whether to eat there... but decided the food court was quicker. Lucky, I guess (food court food is not great either)

Ice? Possibly. Ice certainly could be a mode for a Norwalk virus to spread...a server or two who don't like to wash up after wiping their ass; coming into contact with ice...Humm, a possible mode of transmission.

It would sure be nice to know what kind of bug were are dealing with here.

A Baja Fresh restaurant opened near my parents house back when I was a kid, about 11 or 12. We all ate there, my parents, six brothers and sisters and I... and we all got horribly sick with food poisoning. We took turns puking and shitting diarrhea for about a week.

As Fnarf did, my mother suspected the ice, and that maybe they left raw meat sitting above the ice machine. We all had drinks except for my older brother, and he did not get sick.
