The Best Songs of 1996!

posted by on December 29 at 10:32 AM

Screw 2006! Here are the most awesomest 10 songs of 1996 (with video evidence, of course).

1) Spice Girls— Wannabe

2) Smashing Pumpkins—Tonight, Tonight

Even more 1996 deliciousness after the jump!

3) 2Pac & Dr. Dre— California Love

4) Los Del Rio — Macarena

5) Bone Thugs N Harmony — The Crossroads

6) Blackstreet — No Diggity

7) Backstreet Boys — Stop Playing Games (With My Heart)

8) Mariah Carey — Always Be My Baby

9) Alanis Morissette — Ironic

10) Toni Braxton — Unbreak My Heart

1996... Best Year EVER!

Man, that takes me back.

But Humpy, why no love for Lineout? I know it gets less traffic than Slog, but perhaps part of the reason is that it gets a lot fewer posts? Put the music posts in the music blog!

Bone Thugs n' Harmony. Fuck. I saw the nod to Easy-E in the video, but for some reason I thought his image appeared in a cloud. Was that a different Bone Thugs video?

1996 was the year I graduated high school, moved away from home and became a man. And you fags wan't to commemorate that with a fucking Spice Girls video? Kiss my hairy black balls, son.

re: #4 - I remember sitting at home late at night watching The Box, a precursor to MTV2 that ran on network TV in the Midwest in the mid-1990s. They used to air the Bones, Thugs & Harmont video..."It's the first of the month...so get your check and c'mon..." or something like that. So damn catchy.

But nothing holds a candle to the Spice Girls. Awwww yeaaaah!
