Against my own current spiritual beliefs and my recovering Catholic status, I swear by Saint Anthony when something is lost. And darned if those items aren't found. You don't even have to bury a statue just a chant spoken three times -which is terrifcally wiccan to boot.

If I understand the precedent properly, as long as the guy doesn't die, dems still have 50-49, even if he can't show up to vote.

Contrary to what has been said, this will not empower Lieberman anymore than he already is; his vote is decisive either way; it would just make it impossible for Cheney to cast the tie-breaking vote, and the more Cheney stays the fuck out of the Senate chamber, the better off this country is.

BUT...
How fucked up would it be if the guy went all Terri Schaivo? Stuff would get real interesting real quick.

I really don't see the problem here. Wasn't Strom Thurmond in a coma for his last two terms?

Dan Savage: I’m not a praying man, needless to say, but I’m going to go buy a statue of St. Jude and bury it in my backyard.

I couldn't help but notice that Dan has a backyard. So now I have to wonder, does Dan have a frontyard and does Dan live in the sort of domicile that would typically be classified as a "single-family home"?

Or in other words, does Dan practice what he preaches when it comes to density?

Now remember my little left wing new wave spiritualists, everything happens for a reason right?! I think Aristotle was friggin right...... Does it really matter if S. Dakota's Senator suffers under the knife to soon become a vegetable, if it's just for the greater good! The good always prevails! Instead of buying a .99 cent candle to pray for recovery, go to church and thank god for your way of life and freedom because there are real men and women out there willing to maintain America's status as a superpower. Go buy that St. Judas candle when the next Muslim fanatic targets you, to slice your head off just because your a westerner.

Hmm. I think it's kind of crass to only view the importance of this man's life in terms of the makeup of the Senate. I just hope he's ok because he's another human being like us.

Wait Shani.... Did you say he's just another human being like us? My prediction is that you are pro choice, yet if he's a senator his life is important because he's a HUMAN BEING. I agree. But thank you for not taking that same position for the new life "fetus!" All you left wing nut jobs never make any sense! But you are a great judge of human life existance... Who should live and who should not! I applaud your judgements! If this senators mother wouldve chosen to abort, it wouldn't matter if he made it or not right now, right! Thank god he turned out to be a senator, now his life has meaning right?

Can I bury a statue of St. Judy Garland in my back yard and maybe get a lifetime supply of downers?

So God is an all powerful supreme being who only responds when people bury shit in their back yards, silly catholics.

One dollar-

Since you're so concerned about human life, you might want to remind your Republican friends that Iraqis are human too. Bush and his cronies are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and thousands of American troops. Until you and/or the Republicans can give those people their lives back, you can go fuck yourself.

Oh dear,

More trolls on the Slog. At least they're publishing the inflated value or their “opinions.” $0.50 and $1.00? That's freakin' highway robbery.

I'm going to Good Vibrations right now to buy a St. Jude didlo and I'm going to bury it in my rectum.

I pray he has a long slow recovery...whoever the hell he is..that would feel so good.

I understand that Pat Robertson has already taken credit for Johnson's stroke (or whatever it is), gushing that "our prayers are being answered." Robertson, reportedly in a deep funk since the recent elections, is now reported to be "deeply relieved" that the apocalypse and rapture will not be delayed after all by the godless Democrats' control of Congress. "God works in mysterious ways," the beaming Robertson told his "700 Club" studio audience this morning during an off-camera commercial break.
