Post-KKKramer Comedy: The Good and the Stupid

posted by on December 6 at 11:46 AM

So it’s been two and a half weeks since the instigation of Kramergate, wherein Kramer “Michael Richards” Kramer of Seinfeld fame repeatedly and furiously called a pair of black audience members niggers then went around issuing apologies of dubious value.

Now comes one of the key subsequent phases, wherein other comedians weigh in on the scandal—with comedy!

Case #1: The exceedingly lame and conceptually bankrupt endeavours of Andy Dick, who hopped onstage at L.A.’s Improv comedy club, grabbed the mic, and hollered at the audience, “You’re all a bunch of niggers!” Get it??? Just like Kramer!! Hyuk! (To confirm his status as an unfunny pussy, Dick followed up with an apologetic press release.)

Far funnier hay was made by Kathy Griffin, who weighed in on the Kramer fiasco during her appearance last night on Larry King Live:

KING: What do you make of the Michael Richards thing?

GRIFFIN: I think he is equal parts insane and racist. I don’t know if there is a dominant, but it’s bad….I don’t think he handled it properly. He’s, like, apologizing to everybody. And when I heard that he apologized to Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson—I know this is going to sound terrible, but didn’t it sort of sound like he just apologized to the only two black people he’s ever heard of? Come on. Who’s he going to call next, Fat Albert? That’s not the way you reach out to the community.

More to come, undoubtedly…

The worse part of him apologizing to Jesse Jackson is that Jackson himself has been known to make bigoted comments. Why is someone who is racist having to seek forgiveness from someone else who is racist? Next is he going to apologize to Andrew Young, the faux civil rights leader who encourages conspiracy theories on Asians, Jews, and Arabs getting rich by selling poor hapless blacks wilted vegetables? Next he'll seek forgiveness from Louis Farakkan.

Hers a seattle comedian who could give Mr. richards advice on how to handle hecklers.

side note question is it more offensive if a prevaliged white kid plays Ice Cubes ' Here comes the Predator' within ear shot of those offended by the word or is it acceptable if its some homies from the hood in the same scenario.
Have we come to make a word uttered Legal/Illegal for certain races, genders, classes, or occupations of people?
I rolled when I saw a Will Smith interview and he said...
"I do not think the Black community has come to terms if it finds the word offensive or not." we all have to wait till the black community decides to keep the word( as its made a lot of comedians rich and rappers true to the hood with the OG title) or lose it from the vocabulary(plummett in sales of Bling bling rappers and plenty of little demonts and Tanyas getting welts on their asses, my cousins mother used to whoop his ass everytime he said the N word)
Do I have to get rid of all my Gangster rap recordings or will it be acceptable to play them loud and clear in public no less.sigh

I haven't been up to anything recently, but so it goes. Such is life. What can I say? Pretty much not much exciting going on to speak of. I haven't gotten much done lately, but I don't care.

I just don't have anything to say right now. I haven't been up to anything recently, but it's not important. I've just been sitting around waiting for something to happen, but shrug.

Not much on my mind these days, but what can I say? It's not important. I just don't have much to say lately. I've just been letting everything pass me by recently, but eh.

I haven't been up to anything today. I don't care. I've just been staying at home not getting anything done. Basically not much happening right now. Maybe tomorrow. I guess it doesn't bother me.
