Police Cutality

posted by on December 4 at 10:31 AM

If I die after a bunch of cops fire fifty rounds into my car…

CalCops2007Cover.gif

…please God, let them be cute cops.

PLEASE NOTE: I am not making fun of the guy in New York who was sitting in his car with two friends when the police officers, who were not in uniform, charged at his car with guns drawn. Believing they were about to be carjacked, the men in the car attempted to drive off. The police opened fire since, you know, attempting to flee from strange men waving guns around is as good as a confession to a capitol crime. Fifty shots were fired into the car. Two men were injured, one man died. The dead man was supposed to be married the next day.

I’m posting this because I’m always a little amazed at how our culture lionizes cops—all those TV shows, all those cop fetishists buying calendars—while at the same time refusing to deal with or even acknowledge the reality of police brutality. Or police stupidity, as represented by the cops in Arizona who offered to let two black guys go without issuing a ticket if they would rap for the officers.

I mean, the cop shown above has really nice tits. But this seems to be a bad time to coming out with a sexy cops calendar. Scary cops is more like it.

What was the purpose of this post at all? Boredom?

Not all cops are scary--just like how not all editors are idiots.

Cops, being human, are flawed. They also put their lives on the line for us every day: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/294535_deputyshot02.html?from=wtnews

I think the craziest part of the whole "I'll let you go if you rap for me" thing is that the guys actually AGREED TO DO A RAP, like it wasn't an unusual request.

Kool-aid & Jtr: Acknowledging that not all cops are scary and that they put their lives on the line is not the same thing as dealing with BAD COPS. Someone gets his head blown off by a bunch of trigger happy pigs and we're supposed to say, "Well, they were putting their lives on the line. They're not all bad"??!?!!? The cases Dan describes deserve scrutiny because when people are entrusted with that kind of power, the have to use it properly ALL THE TIME. Sorry, they just don't get to make mistakes.

Trigger-happy cops notwithstanding, it is possible for man-tits to be too big (see photo).

Cops are so gay.

Cops can make mistakes, they're human. It's gross negligence that can't be tolerated.

But I too find it odd that you're posting this today. The NYC incident happened a while back, while the cop in Seattle was killed just this weekend. Were you upset that people were "lionizing" the Seattle officer killed?

Men with guns and badges are HAWT.

From his facial expression I can't tell if he's constipated, or concerned with the criminal underclass. Either way, count me out.

Between the KC cops beating a cyclist and this most recent murder, there should be some restriction on undercover cops exercising force. They should probably just call for uniformed backup and calmly transmit important details.

It's outrageous that those cops asked those black guys to rap. But I totally have the giggles, nevertheless.

Speaking of Hot Cops with nice tits... Whatever happened with the DJ DV One incident? I thought the Stranger would keep that story whipped into a frenzy until they got someone’s head on a platter. The silence implies the story must not be as the Stranger would like to have it.

Gross generalization alert:

Cops do not put their lives on the line for anyone but themselves. Policing is not a career choice it is very much a lifestyle choice (Not to be confused with prison security, which is a career choices, a dreadfully poor career choice, soul crushing career choice).

Cops are also often mistaken for being racist but that is very flawed judgement. While racial prejudices pften motivate alot of horrible police work their primary driving prejudice is a prejudice against people who are not in law enforcement.

Also:

That cops face personifies hostility and xenophobia but he thinks he's conveying the image of assertive authority.

Yes, yes...there are some really, really great fucking cops but that is largely an unintended byproduct. Being a good cop is counter to everything the justice system has institutionally become. Even if they are saints with a badge, things are so frusteratingly structured against their desire to affect change and justicew that it breaks their spirits or drives them nuts.

I know all this because I used to be a cop hater. (wocka wocka wocka...see how I did that?)
