Well, it's fucking awful, but the malicious prosecution lawsuit will be fun.

the GA didn't have the authority to pursue the case, and so a judge axed it.

the charges were dropped, and the state voted kline out of office last month.

maybe kansas is progressive?

Has the state of Kansas made progress in the past four years? Yes. But is Kansas progressive? I think not. They're just finally starting to catch up.

But here's the thing (the scary, sad thing): Kline will be replacing current Johnson County district attourney Paul Morrison, who defeated him for the AG job. So he's still going to be active in Kansas lawyering. Johnson County, which is mostly suburban Kansas City and has one of the few abortion providers (Planned Parenthood) in the KC area, is one of the most populous and affluent areas of Kansas. Kline may have been defeated statewide, but he is still going to have a lot of power.

I'm back home in Kansas right now. Kansas is actually fairly moderate. The School Board goes back and forth every term about evolution, the state currently has a democrat governor, and they sometimes pass what we consider progressive issues. This is in spite of it's mostly rural geography and only a couple liberal towns. Compared to the southern states, Kansas has few extreme conservatives, mostly moderate, Lutheran-types. (Not that I would ever move back here, but still.. Midwest red is quite different than Southern red).
