Johnson and Schiavo and Thurmond

posted by on December 14 at 9:59 AM

After burying your holy statues, practice these talking points:

If the Republicans could sue to keep Terry Schiavo, brain-dead and drooling, alive, well, damnit, the Democrats can keep an ill Senator Johnson in office to maintain their Senate majority. Any arguments that he’d be medically incapable of doing his job can be settled by having Bill Frist diagnose him on video. Or by just pointing out how long Strom Thurmond stayed in office after he was senile.

It's weird how the chronically ill or just-about-to-die people bring issues to the forefront. Does anyone remember the Orianna Fallaci piece in the New Yorker about three months ago?
She was apparently an amazing freedom fighter/journalist/author/etc. throughout her life (she interviewed Ayatolla Khomeni around 1980 and actually earned his facetoface respect). Her last few years were devoted to adamantly calling out Islam as an entirely bad thing for Western society. She died not long after the article ran.

I understand that Pat Robertson has already taken credit for Johnson's stroke (or whatever it is), gushing that "our prayers are being answered." Robertson, reportedly in a deep funk since the recent elections, is now reported to be "deeply relieved" that the apocalypse and rapture will not be delayed after all by the godless Democrats' control of Congress. "God works in mysterious ways," the beaming Robertson told his "700 Club" studio audience this morning during an off-camera commercial break.

Can you confirm your 700 Club story with a link to it's source?
