Bye-Bye, Saddam

posted by on December 29 at 15:04 PM

News outlets are reporting that Saddam Hussein will be hanged in Iraq tonight or tomorrow. The entire event, according to the Iraqi national security advisor, will be videotaped, but it’s unclear whether it will be shown on Iraqi TV. I’m sure it’ll be on YouTube within hours, however, for those who want to watch the ex-Iraqi dictator swing from the gallows.

My two favorite quotes from the AP article on this matter

"The Americans want him to be hanged respectfully,"
& the best of all

"Our respect for human rights requires us to execute him, and there will be no review or delay in carrying out the sentence," al-Maliki said.

Nothing shows more disrespect for human rights than NOT executing someone!

It'll be the feature story on Entertainment Tonight. Leeza Gibbons will host!

Let's just hope it doesn't end up on next week's episode of "World's Funniest Botched Executions".

Um, and this IS going to make everying in Iraq all better, right?

Um, it's supposed to be 'hung', right?

it's hanged when it's a person, hung when it's a picture

I am surprised to see The Stranger reveling in Hussein's execution with posts like this one and Charles Mudede's "Hang Him." Do you support the death penalty? If not, why do you make an exception for Saddam Hussein?

Justice and Mercy weep. Life in prison would have been fine.

Weird jutxa position in the Stranger --- Kill the old fuck and vote for the squirrel .... I will not drink to the evil of Sadam's life, but do not support the death penaltly ... period ...period.
