This morning's protest at the Mars Hill Jesus Emporium and Pastors' Wives Weight Loss Center was cancelled, as I blogged yesterday. Unfortunately today's Suggests post was created on Friday and automatically popped up this morning. Mistakes were made. In more Mars Hill news, check out this hilarious unpacking of Driscoll's non-apology for his idiotic, sexist ramblings—excuse me, "sermons."...

The kids refer to this as "fisking." It sounds like the sort of thing you might devote a Savage Love column to ("Safe fisking!") but it means something entirely different.

It's unfortunate that this technique should be called "fisking" after Robert Fisk, when it was a common feature of Usenet argument long before it was applied to him.

Megalomania: (n)

1. The enjoyment of having power over other people and the craving for more of it.
2. A psychiatric disorder in which the patient experiences delusions of great power and importance.

Religious fundamentalists like Driscoll piss me off because they think that a supernatural being has given them the authority to condemn anyone and everyone who doesn’t believe exactly what they believe. Apparently this includes career women, gay men, lesbians, fluffy bunny rabbits, non-believers and even most other Christians.

I personally believe in freedom of religion and freedom from religion. The stated goal of Mars Hill is to repopulate Seattle with like-minded pod people and take over. Pretty small time megalomania by today’s standards, but evil nonetheless. I want them to stop meddling in everyone else’s personal lives and condemning everyone who’s not like them.

Why can’t they just frak off and mind their own business?
andrew - the plan you suggest does not involve much money

remember organized religion feeds on giant amounts of money, catholic, mars church, or muslim --- one of my adversions to their pretensions and babble
