I dunno, I'm going to stick with Dan's post about this identical topic from four hours ago.
I'm just waiting patiently for the day when Driscoll/Mars Hill gets hit by its own scandal. It always happens with these guys. It's not a question of if, but when.
Why is terrible misogyny not scandal enough?
Since Driscoll and his ilk believe that homosexuality is a choice, can we expect that he’ll be turning to hardcore man on man action when his wife refuses to give it up?
“In related news, the testosterone levels of male Americans has dropped significantly in the past twenty years.”
Thank GOD that we haven't seen the same drop in white males willing to spread their legs for the WHITED SEPULCHRES OF FAITH, HOLOLULA!
did anyone actually read the whole article?
Fits, IMHO rampant misogyny and homophobia are definitely scandal enough. However, it will also be nice to savor something that gets Driscoll in a major shitstorm with his followers as well as the local MSM. Just a matter of time.
I'm sure you're all very busy over there, but could The Stranger please require Slog contributors to at least glance at the last five or ten Slog posts before posting, to see if somebody else already posted exactly the same thing?
david,
Some stories just ache to be told more than once.
Yo Steve! I went back and read the whole article. What was your point, exactly?
My point is all the rancor may be partially misplaced. He was not speaking SPECIFICALLY about Mrs Haggard, only what challenges some pastors face as reality. The church is not perfect, Ted Haggard certainly has fallen, and much can be learned from all this. Its one thing to overplay a statement, but completely another to turn it into a personal, unwaranted attack. Mark was addressing the need for pastors to understand the responsibility they do have and the dangers involved in the daily lives and the shattering consequences that a fall can bring. SO, his point is given to warn pastors about repressive sexual attitudes that serve to fuel the problems pastors face and in true MD style.. offer solutions. If you'd like to know what Mark has made know and his views - and I'll add that they are biblical- check out the Song of Solomon. you may be suprised at what you would agree with...
