Tuesday Morning Sports Report

posted by on November 7 at 9:08 AM

Seahawks: If only we could play the Raiders every week. Though the score wasn’t very high (thanks in no small part to Jerramy Stevens’s dropped endzone pass), the Hawks D turned out in force, sacking Oakland quarterback Andrew Walter nine times. That’s a lot of turf burns. Better still, fill-in RB Maurice Morris had career high 138 yards on 30 carries.

As good as the Hawks D was, and as pretty as Seneca Wallace’s first quarter TD to Deion Branch looked, however, it was a knee to the groin—specifically, from Raiders defensive end Tyler Brayton to Jerramy Stevens’s scrabble bag—that proved to be the highlight of the game (and spurred the Raiders’ Warren Sapp to call Stevens a “sissyā€¯ in a post-game interview).

Finally, the sweet and sour of the game: Seneca Wallace’s 37-yard run in the third quarter was definitely sweet. Unfortunately, it was the longest run by a Seattle player all year.

Up next, the St. Louis Rams come to town. Mike in MO’s taunting begins…NOW.

After the pathetic performance against the KC Chefs, I have lost faith in my beloved Lambs. Three game losing streaks will do that.

having said that, a win on the road against the Seahags would go a long way to restoring my faith.

regardless, Lambs-Seahags games are always fun...

"sissy?" how quaint.

i thought "sissy" had been pushed aside by "pussy" or, even, "faggot" in the vernacular of today's youth. here's hoping "pansy" makes a comeback.

it was a good night to stay in and watch football.

I don't know if I would call him a sissy, but Stevens lacks toughness. He shows it every time he attempts a catch in traffic. We saw it in the Super Bowl and last night with his dropped pass that would have given the team a 17-point lead. He's all bark.

And the traffic at gametime had every non-football fan cussing the Seahawks and ESPN.

Anyway, only 16 points against those awful Raiders? It seems that, after that 1st quarter TD, the offense played it safe and said, "Whatever, you're not gonna win."

Of course, they were right. 9 sacks on Insert Raider QB Here. (Seriously, Andrew Walter's the best they've got?)

"scrabble bag"--Wow Brad.

An attempted knee to a cup covered
groin....What a perfect metaphor
to a perfectly fucked-up game.

Let's all admit it...the Seahawks
(and Raiders too) are perhaps two
the of the better college level
football teams playing this year.

The team has still been outscored on the season. Mediocre offense, and one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Points-wise. Are points important in football?

Y'all are giving me hope for Sunday. Maybe after the thrashing the Lambs D got last sunday they will be geared up for Seneca.

BTW -isn't Seneca kind of a faggy name?

13 points throughout most of the game.with all the rain and the number 13 on the board it was like a curse aginst the Raiders. 13 is like you know all that badluck and omen stuff.
and for the Hawks goodluck and stuff.yay.......
Besides 9 sacks showed the Defense was stable. The Raiders QB and Offensive line looked like they were going to cry...tears in the rain.

Football players don't wear cups.

Compression shorts are quite effective in keeping the 'landing gear' tucked up tight and mostly out of the way, while also allowing for far greater playing comfort. Imagine taking a knee to the SIDE of the cup. T'would smart, indeed. A cup could shift around during game-play to a lot of genitographical places where it would merely become a nut-anvil, given the right impact.

It is an unspoken rule for NFL players to NEVER EVER reach for the jewels if they take one to the nutshop. Case in point: Jerramy Stevens skipped and hopped sideways away from the incident without gesticulating anything nut-bound. And, the trot to the sideline was classy too. Too bad Dooder isn't 6'7" in his mind when it comes time to make the TD catch yesterday.

Timer a-tickin': Fewer than 10 seconds after Stevens' TD drop that the announcers used "Steelers" and "Super Bowl" in a sentence. Jerramy, you're the only douche that's gonna erase the bunk reputation you're creating for yourself. I believe in you, man. C'mon. Your game's already over when you let some Wipe take over your mind.

@Lloyd: what? Stevens did too grab his balls after getting kneed there. Look at the youtube link more carefully (ie, right after getting the knee). If only he could hold onto the footballs as carefully as he holds onto his own balls.

Him -- Sure, you're right, he allllllmost does. I bet Stevens would claim that to be more of a double hammy slap. Hard to avoid the Natural Reaction, as we ball-flinchers can understand. I'm sayin' that he's not rolling around on the ground like a soccer player, doing an oh-the-injustice ball-grab. In the video, you also do clearly see the moment when he realizes that he's had his balls rung, remembers The Code, and pulls back from the locale.
