The Morning News

posted by on November 8 at 8:45 AM

Almost Only Election News

Democrats take the House.

The Senate hangs on close races in Montana and Virginia.

Democrats retake six governor’s mansions.

Cantwell kicks ass.

Reichert leads Burner by narrow margin.

A widening lead for buses and transportation. Down with strip-club regulations and “property rights.”

Local TV news spends more time on the floods than the election.

A good hangover cure at a Burger King in New Mexico?

Well, I guess it should say "Democrats take House" for now.

Dammit Gabriel, why'd you have to go and make me cry at my desk?
Thanks.

The crowd at the Spitfire was AMAZING. Definatly one of the best parties I have ever been to. Yay Democrats! Boo Republicans!

Tom DeLay is on the 700 club right now, talking about the "culture of death." It would be mortifying if it weren't hilarious.

Normally I wouldn't poke fun at this sort of thing, but it's Rick Santorum so well, fuck em.

1 Picture, 1,000 words etc

Sorry if this has been posted already. I've had a hell of a time keeping up with the Slog the past 24 hours.

What is with the flood coverage completely overshadowing the election coverage? At least give us 50/50 coverage, damn!

Go Burner!!!

Apparently a butch otter won the Idaho governor race.

In other news: When Fred Rogers spoke to the camera it was endearing; when Pat Robertson does, it's really fucking creepy.

The first wave of happiness was the exhiliration of winning, and the second wave is witnessing some of the hilarious Republican reactions.

Nice all the way around. Hope Burner can pull it out and hope Dems learn the importance of running stronger candidates.

Nickels should take note that people don't want his nanny state, not when it comes to stripclubs and the same goes for nightclubs.

Seattle is also on the leading edge of standing up to pro-sports. Our country needs to shut off the money spicket of corporate wlefare to billionaires. We should keep having the conversation about sports. We're closing schools while building new sports facilities. Our universites spend additional millions on sports. We need to get intermural sports off the public dollar too. Public schools and universities should not be allowed to spend a dime on intermuural sports. If the NBA and NFL need minor leagues, they should subsidize them. If kids want to play sports they should play intramurally only. Take those millions and invest in actually teaching the kids something.

6. I'm a bastard: That little girl in the pic a) looks like she was force-fed some Santorum before the concession speech and b) needs to mix in a salad.

AP has just called Montana for Tester. It's even.

I'm not one to laugh @ little girls that often, and I'm not now.

I don't think she really gave a shit about the election or her dad - I believe she's bawling because someone put her in that dress that matches her mom and doll. Hideous.

Hey Meinert,
All the way dude, Let's keep having the conversation about sports and.....FOREIGNER! Thanks for the tix man. The concert was great!! Took me a few songs to settle into the whole reunion of radio ready anthem rock, but it happened. Lou Graham has been replaced by a kind of a Stringfellow lookalike, yet the range in his pipes was definite good. Mick "Big Dick" Jones (that's how the singer introduced him) was smiles all night, doing spotlighted solos as if he'd just flown in from Hawaii. And the major surprise and pehaps the legitmising factor for the night - BONHAM'S son was the drummer!

And fuck bush for using "the democrat party."

This is a morning that cannot even be ruined by a hangover. Thank you, America, for restoring a two-party democracy in the very nick of time.

No more single-party hegemony! Back to checks and balances!

Also, nothing today was funnier to me than seeing CANTWELL REELECTED on the cover of Frank Blethen's newspaper.
