Hugo's revenge. (The Stranger knows, does it not, that our source code was outsourced to commies in Venezuela?)

Incompetence is always a more likely explanation than conspiracy. This is beautiful. You can hear the election officials (both D and R) across the country sputtering "b-b-but, they're compyooters, they can't be wrong!"

Time to put a stake in e-voting's heart, cause it's dead.

I wonder if the GOP will ask the ACLU to represent them in areas they think had voting issues, especially in contested areas. That would be a fun turn of events...

I've never been to voting center staffed by people that might look comfortable in front of a computer.

They'd do better spending their resources creating secure online voting than messing with this crap.

Re: New Mexico

As of this election, I believe all ballots in all districts/precincts are paper. I filled out one this morning that looked much like Dan's in the post above, then stood there and fed it into the reader and watched it tally my vote (#46!). Still not perfect, but I feel better about this than I did the electronic machines the last couple years...
.
The only polling-related complaint I've heard of today is that certain polling places didn't have enough paper ballots for the number of people assigned to vote there. No idea who's at fault, and the issue was resolved (and people were back voting in under an hour, as I understand it), but the evil bitch republican congressional candidate has raised a stink about it because it was located in the more-conservative part of town. People did get to vote, they just had to wait briefly while the ballot issue was resolved. Not cool, but New Mexico's not exactly on the ball whenever anything has to be organized...
