Now before all you wonderful daycare providers and your supporters jump on my back, let me say that the moral of my little sermon is, "You get what you pay for." and that we should be paying those folks who work with our children, including those who educate them, what the job is really worth.

When my partner and I go out for a date, we pay our childcare person (aka teenage babysitter type) at least $10/hr. In return, we expect them to interact with our kids in a positive manner without using the TV, to stay off the phone until the kids are asleep, and to not have visitors. This means that we go out less, but can enjoy ourselves more when we do.
