Wonkette beat you by quite a bit of time. But that's ok. I'll still buy anyone a Santorum who recognizes me when I cruise by shortly before 10 pm.

THANK YOU DAN! I credit you for getting the word out to the younger voters about the importance of getting the menace of Santorum out of office. One person really can make a difference :)

I feel privileged to have helped today with removing that infamous stain. Not that I approve of Casey, really at all (I like my abortions), but it was an epic battle of Sort of Okay vs. So Evil.

Virginia is making me very nervous.... I need a beer.

Boy, the Rickster looks like he ate a sour owl turd, doesn't he? I hear there's rumblings about voting machine problems, though. Our chum may not go quietly.

Ooooooh, irony!

When I read the news on CBC, I actually jumped out of my chair and got excited.
I don't even know this guy but I read up on him after reading your column. Congrats all! One right-wing nut scumbag down, how many more to go?

Deval Patrick is a rising star, up out of the ghetto. It's nice to see; a Republican gov in that most Democratic of states was such an eyesore.

I am at work tonight (big deadline, I’m sure you understand), occasionally monitoring election returns on CNN. The headline right now reads Projection: Santorum defeated. If I were with you right now, I would by you a beer. I might even spring for a shot of whiskey to go with it.

Your campaign to show what a piece of fecal matter mixed with lube and semen Rick Santorum is was instrumental in his defeat. I am one of the many people who find you often entertaining, even though I don’t always agree with you. On this topic, however, you were right on the money.

Thank you for ridding our senate of this bigoted idiot.

True. Massholes have always been a strong, civic-minded bunch of DIYers. Never did understand Ed King, except that he was Irish.

Dan, I think you were directly involved in this one--great work! Of course, only 11 percent of the precincts have reported so far (according to CNN.com); but clear indications are that Senator Frothy is getting his santorum-filled butt kicked by a two to one margin.

I hope we'll still have the term "santorum", in the lower case, to toss around after this...

Jezuz. Going down, and going down hard. An incumbent senator losing by more than a 20 point margin. That's gotta hurt.

Good work Dan!

As my boyfriend and I just had a long-awaited celebratory fuck, I sit here thinking "fuck, this is a great country...some of the time."

All good, all good.

But...VA, TN, SC, SD, ID, CO, and WI -- all have put gays/lesbians down and insist on marriage being 1 man and 1 woman. Here in WI they've even preempted anything "substantially similar" to marriage, too. Buh-bye, existing civil unions. So long, domestic partnerships. Too bad, "alternative" families of Wisconsin.

This PISSES ME OFF, even as I am delighted about the national scene.

Sooooo...Dan, here's my idea for post-Santorum activism: we pick a day in the near future and every lesbian chick and gay dude pairs up and marches down to City Hall to register for marriage. All over the country. National Gay Pride Marriage Day. Bring the press.

Not bad, eh? I think we need to highlight the absurd technicalities of these ratfuck amendments, don't you? Hee, hee, I can even imagine gay men and dyke couples getting "married" in a double ceremony, and then kissing their true love when the time comes, cameras rolling. All the while we are righteously following the law.

You're the man! Can we still use Santorum in the usual way now? You were very successful this time. Can we find a new deserving target (and a new name) for another evil pol?

10,000 beijinhos to you!

HI Dan, the election results were covered by the BBC here in the UK this morning and it struck me that the Santorum in question did indeed resemble a frothy mixture etc.
Though probably a lot less fun...

Although I just moved to Vancouver from Pittsburgh I am still delighted by this result. I owe Dan Savage for both these changes. Thanks, Dan.
