That Nickels story is just...unhinged. Funny? I don't get it.
I read that "article" last week and thought it was just too ridiculous to be true. Good thing to find out it was.
Now if only I could figure out why the hell they'd do that. The only answer I can come up with is that it's a display of contempt.
Yeah, I can see that cover story was some sort of satire, but I totally don't get the point of writing it at all. Was this another one of those orders from on high at VVM/NT?
Nevermind. Question answered in Angela's entry above.
the fictional cover story at the weekly was weird and the weekly should be taken to task for calling this piece of trash "news". But how is the weekly's cover story any different than the fiction the stranger dishes out on a weekly basis? i love the irony of the stranger trashing the weekly for its lack of journalistic standards.
People who use the word "journalistic" are poseurs.
It reminds me of a 13 year old boy in a bar mitzvah suit trying to be a grown up.
Journalistic?
You give yourself away as a dolt when you throw around heavy duty words like journalistic.
And so, Torrential, hold me closer tiny dancer.
But how is the weekly's cover story any different than the fiction the stranger dishes out on a weekly basis?
The Stranger's "fiction" is funnier, because it's truer.
i know it's a tough word for you Josh but here goes - from American Heritage: jour·nal·is·tic (jûrn-lstk) Pronunciation Key
adj.
Of, relating to, or characteristic of journalism or journalists.
Seely has had one too many hang over brunches. He should have Kaufmann's job instead.Journalistic standards then will be lowered to egg dishes and booze. Seely: Playing your readers for a cheap thrill: You lose. Losing readers to the Stranger: You lost.
That SW Nickels cover story should've been a 2-paragraph gag, at most. Most nauseatingly, Seely included Herbie Hancock in the smooth-jazz pantheon. Idjit.
