I never really liked Bill Gates, given my usual dislike/suspicion of rich people. But then he started the Gates Foundation, which actually does make a difference in people's lives.

What really did it for me, though, was the Slog post where he was quoted about his views on the estate tax repeal. He's the only rich person I've ever heard (besides Rosie O'Donnel) saying that wealthy people should pay their fair share in taxes.

So while I still dislike Microsoft in general, I have respect for Bill Gates.

Weren't those quotes actually from Bill Gates Sr? Is there a Bill Gates Sr? I thought it was his dad for some reason.

Either way, Microsoft remains scary and Bill Gates is the coolest rich person of our time, perhaps ever.

His father has been more vocal on the Estate Tax issue, but Jr. lives very much by his father's, and his pal Warren Buffet's, values of redistributing wealth from the top down. More of Americas wealthy should be like them.

Dad Gates is a bosoom buddy of Mike Lowery and all the old time Seattle left.

Senior partner at Peston Gates downtown
law firm.

Dad will write big checks too.

Bill Jr. comes from as they say, good family.

The first, and most important step towards acquiring wealth is to choose your parents wisely.

Bill was a genius from a very young age.
