Definitions are murky. Is a 'racist' one who doesn't like other races or one who believes that their race is better than others i.e. the chosen race, ethnocentrism?
I'd say Richards falls more toward the latter. Hell, I'm white and I'm proud, but I also find blind people to be an inspiration. They are often humble, brave and undeserving of satirization.
There's too much to blab about on this Richards scenario, although if someone can help me out, I think the subject can be exploited enough to find some understanding (let him get rich off the bad publicity).

Boy, you all really got the long knives out for this guy. A crappy part in a crappy movie no one ever heard off that Richards didn't write or direct? Is this it? The best you can do to find a history to undercut his expressions of remorse? Mel Gibson has a long history of simmering bigotry and hate toward Jews, and a long family history to go with it.

A tirade like Richards' last week in front of a huge crowd shows some kind of mental problem. I guess you can see it as evidence that he has been committing the thought crime of bigotry for years, and use that black face scene to back it up.

This whole Michael Richards thing is being blow out of control by the black community and the NAACP…not to mention by the reverend Al Sharptan and Jessie Jackson. All Richards did was call a man, which was harassing him, a name…that is it! And don’t we teach our children that stick and stones may break our bone but NAMES will never hurt us…if anything is to be done, he could apologize to the man he spoke to, but I would only do that if the man apologized first…everyday we are bombarded by rudeness…on TV women are referred to as bitches, sluts and whores, these are the mothers of our children and future leaders, and those worlds are no longer “beeped” out on TV anymore, as a society it has become a regular occurrence, black people call each other nigger all the time, on TV, movies, on the phone, in person, and it is considered ok…listen to Dave Chapel show for 5 minutes and you will see what I mean, or turn of BET after 9 o’clock at night and see for yourself…there is considered ok to degraded and insult women and other races, but let a white person call a black person a nigger, and he needs to apologize to the community! And seek counseling! Give me a break!
