$7 Heineken???

The party for Rep. Dave Upthegrove at the SeaTac Hilton had an OPEN bar...including liquor. We know how to party in South King County!

Revenge is definitely a dish which should be served cold. And I'm betting that it's going to be pretty damn cold for all of those Republican Congressmen when they move everything out of their offices between now and January. :)

What a sweet, sweet taste of vengeance. I've waited *years* for this day. And while it's certainly not quite the best form of comeuppance available, it will do for now.

The party at the Sheraton was FUCKING LAME. What was supposed to be a thank you to the volunteers and most importantly the campaign workers who have been working their ass off for the past 6 months turned into a few speeches and everyone leaving. Some of us, who I don't know still had shit to do until around 10pm got there as everyone was leaving.

The party should have been open bar, there should have been better multimedia, the setup should have been better, the candidates and party officials should have hung around to keep people parting, and oh, did I mention that there should have been a FUCKING OPEN BAR. Charge for fancy cocktails if you want, but a bunch of free win and beer is a must. not to mention lots of food. 7 dollar alcohal when your party consists of under paid camping workers, college students, and labor, is messed up.

If I sound a little pissed I am. After spending the day in the rain helping Dems, not to mention giving money and volunteering the least the Dems could do is give us a good fucking party.

As for a former SKers (once a south county res, always a south county res) I should have went to Upthegroves party.

MLB should play "America! America!" at baseball games on Sunday instead of the marginalizing Judeo-Christian anthem "God Bless America."

Hey sour puss - who said the party was a thank you for volunteers? That comes later with pizza at someone's house. This was a CELEBRATION. This isn't the Microsoft annual meeting dude, it's Democrats.

We also had an open bar and free mexican buffet at the 47th district party in Auburn - yummy!

I agree, the party was lame, expensive booze, poorly organized.

But the mood was great, Gregoire and Murrray were really on, Maria ia a cold fish. And the poorest speaker of the night.

CNN must have paid a fee, as their coverage was all there was on the big screens. Little local information.

Not a single mention of the gay community working its butt off ..... Susan Owens was there for a while, shaking hands all around and giving generous thanks to all.

The Dems blew a chance to start organizing their troops. Oh well. Next time I wil go to a good candidate bash.

R-D @9:

God, that Santorum family pic is awesome. That crying child looks to be 9 or 10 years old-- isn't that a bit old to be dressing up to match her dolly?

Giffy,
Campaign volunteers got drink tickets.

ahhh, jesus christ. biggest dem win in over a decade and, already, the constituents find something trivial to bitch about.

a couple of things to keep in mind:
- the hotel sets the price on alcohol, not the event coordinators
- without sponsorship from a liquor or beer company, the only way to lower that price would be to take money out of the campaign's pocket

i'd rather have my donations go to funding the campaign's execution, not paying for folks to get loaded.

besides, who doesn't know that events at hotels almost always suck? unless you're at the four seasons or something comparable. hotel food & beverage caters to a captive audience -- it's like partying at an airport terminal.

every charitable luncheon and dinner i've ever attended has been dismal -- crappy food, miserly drinks, cold atmosphere. know before you go, and always bring a flask.

I thought I'd seen all the best Santorum family pix, but that one (@9) is just amazing. It's easy to make fun of the little girl, but what in the hell is wrong with Boy Santorum there? Is he crapping himself? Ah, the tragedy of the Perfect Republican Child. I predict drugs, pregnancy, and mucho self-loathing gayness in their future.

I was also at the 47th District party last night, at Chihuahua's, and am paying the price for it this morning. Open bar, good food, happy people, and REALLY friendly waitstaff and bartenders. What a wonderful party that was. Of course, it certainly didn't hurt that the 47th District, which only a few short years ago, was represented by three Republicans, is now represented by three great Democrats!

The state Dems' parties are always kind of lame, and the liquor is always super-expensive. It's always more fun to go to the individual districts' or candidates' parties. I'll bet the 34th LD had a great party - hey Ivan, you here today?

Um, I'm guessing those $7 beers were part of a fundraising effort, like just about every political "party" that's ever been held.

Gotta pay down those campaign debts/build up the next warchest somehow...

Democracy is overpriced, taste skunky and gives you a stomach ache?

Kerri @13: You need to go to more charity auctions. The good ones feed you free beer and wine, so that you lose your judgment and bid hundreds of bucks for that birdhouse your 3rd grader's class made.
