Dan, I TOTALLY agree. There are a MILLION reasons why YOU should not be allowed to parent a lost sock, let alone a human being, but NONE of them have anything to do with you being gay.

"Kinda fucked up" is a good description Dan's logic here.

It is entirely possible to imagine a world where: (1) Gay parents are statistically more likely to harm their children than straight parents and (2) Harmed children are statistically more likely to have straight than gay parents. I do not claim that we live in a world in which (1) is true, but Dan's pseduo-evidence for (2) is not even pseduo-evidence against (1).

Dan, just admit these stories don't constitute evidence for or against anything. You are just running an emotional blackmail campaign against your readers: "I'll keep publishing these ugly stories until you guys stop people from saying mean things about gay parents."

Such a horror has no direct point except to underscore how it IS possible for humans to treat each other with abject cruelty.

Neither gay nor straight, male or female..... but a vivid example of
the darkest recesses of the human potential to wreck pain and suffering on others and themselves.

You are trying to put yourself front and center, somehow. That is crass and manipulative. This has nothing to do with you Dan, nothing, except to tell the truth that the worst can and does happen.

Pray to some God or Goddess, take a deep breath, and curse the darkness.

And vow to do all you can given a chance to protect any child from such a horror.

You are right.

I don't care how many times you have to point it - until the double standard is destroyed, LGBT people are held to a higher moral standard than the least common denominator from the non-LGBT population.

That needs to be exposed and you are doing it. Do you think this argument is offensive? Tough shit.

I’ll say it only once. The aversion to gay parents has to do with sexphobia first and homophobia second. America loves the idea of asexual parents. Straight people can be considered asexual because they have written permission from God to have sex to reproduce — and we can safely assume that is the ONLY time they have sex. Gay people have dirty, filthy, kinky, sicko sex for no good reason – and if they’re parents, they have dirty, filthy, kinky, sicko sex under the same roof as children! I think Mr. Savage (who never prints my letters by the way) would do best to abandon this tactic of pointing his finger has isolated cases of horrific child abuse perpetrated by obviously unwell individuals. The mother is this horrific story was possibly suffering from postpartum psychosis – MONTH-OLD baby could be a clue. And since an argument that all parents should be gay men because gay men can’t go postpartum whacko is not likely to fly, he should just stick to what he does best: pointing out that straight people, even those with children, do indeed have active sex lives, and some of ’em pretty darn twisted. I would suggest he tell his readers that he won’t answer their letters about their kinky sex issues unless they first say how many children they have and how old they are.
