Doogie Likes Dick, Kanye is One

posted by on November 4 at 9:57 AM

Okay, a little non-Haggard news…

Neal Patrick Harris is gay, he tells People Magazine.

“So, rather than ignore those who choose to publish their opinions without actually talking to me, I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love.”

After [Doogie Howser, M.D.] went off the air in 1993, he shook off his teen image with roles in the musicals Rent and Assassins and a wild turn as an unhinged version himself in the 2004 movie Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.

“I’m enjoying my 30s,” he told PEOPLE in 2004. “I feel like I know where I’m going. And I like where I’m going.”

Insert your own “going down” joke here.

Kanye West—whom we all fell in love with when he blurted out “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” during a nationally televised benefit for victims of Hurrican Katrina/George W. Bush—lost it at the MTV Europe Music Awards. From the NYT:

After failing to win for best video, [West] crashed the stage as the award was being given to the French electronic duo Justice and the British band Simian for their joint track “We Are Your Friends,” The Associated Press reported. In a tirade riddled with expletives, Mr. West — with the winning video’s directors, Martial Schmeltz and JĂ©rĂ©mie Rozan — said he should have won for his video “Touch the Sky” because it “cost a million dollars,” and “Pamela Anderson was in it.” He added, “If I don’t win, the awards show loses credibility.”

Here’s the video…

s his fault he spent all that goddamn money in his video. What a winer. what a bitch. He gave Pamela 50,000 dollars for the appearance in his video. I like it when the the dude tells him you already won an award go sit down. get out of our face you sore loser.

The fact that NPH is gay makes his cameo in Harold and Kumar that much funnier.

"Yeah, I've been craving burgers, too. Furburgers."

I... I... am just... how does one even respond to something like that?!

Meanwhile, re: Doogie... duh.

Sputnik, I agree. But giving Kanye the benefit of the doubt, he protested in a humorous way and if he looks like a dick in people's eyes, he probably just chalks it up as good/bad press. The sad thing is that the award winning video gets overshadowed - it's great!

Is it beyond Kanye to maturely acknowledge their artfulness, even if it isn't his cup of tea? It seems that confrontation is his way of doing just that.

Kayne is a tool, a self promoting asshole with no musical talent. He should learn to suck his own dick and then he wouldn't have to leave the house ever again.

Yeah, it also makes that Will & Grace episode when NPH plays a "recovering" gay man, even funnier, too.

Does anybody else think it's kind of sign of progress when a formerly closeted celebrity comes out because he doesn't want anybody to think he affirmatively denied being gay? (If affirmatively denied isn't some sort of contradiction in terms.)

Kanye is a tool, but he has vast musical talent, which makes shit like his MTV outburst all the more annoying and pathetic.

NPH's publicist declared he "wasn't of that persuasion" a few days back, which apparently pissed him off big time. He's never tried to hide his sexuality in all the time I've seen him around New York. Good for him.

Boomer, I don't know what other sources you have, but NPH's quotes in this post sound rather pleased.

I wish Kanye would finally come out of the closet.

An actress told me about NPH being gay quite a while ago, so it makes me wonder how far in the closet he ever was. But his being out shows what a great actor he is, as he did make a convincing case for furburgers in Harold & Kumar.

I don't think Kanye's a tool. That would imply he's under somebody's thumb, whereas dude strikes me as a free agent. And I take issue with those who describe him as talentless (there's plenty of talent running through tracks like "Jesus Walks," let alone his production work for the likes of Common, Lupe Fiasco, et al.). But this unfortunate outburst makes him look like a total idiot, which is unfortunate as I don't see many other major hip-hop recording artists speaking out against homophobia (racism, yes). Sadly, the stupid shit tends to attract more attention; I hope he got it out of his system.
